When I read the story it reminded me of my own experience. Had a pack of beagles. Loved to rabbit hunt. Was training puppies one morning. They got close to the road. Next thing I heard was tires skidding and then gun shots. By the time I got to the road all I saw was the tail end of an old truck and three dead puppies.
Sorry about your loss Pardner. Despicable SOB. Hope you get some justice.

Since we are telling happy stories. I elk hunted way out in Western Colorado close to a town called Slickrock. Huge family ranch of friend and they did everything by horseback. Older gentlemen named Bill ran things and he had some amazing horses.
One day he came back to the ranch and found his prized roundup horse shot dead. Some a-hole elk hunter either mistook or did it on purpose. He was pretty broken up over it. Apparenlty not that rare as Colorado has a fund for this kind of shite to reimburse ranchers. No way to find who did it and no way to reimburse for all the training and saddle time.
Way too many assholes walking this planet with us humans

The story tries to play people’s heartstrings, but in reality the fault lies with the owner.
Dogs are no different than other stock.
People get pissed when dogs come onto their property and frick up their hunts or their property.
I had a pair of dogs (cur mixes) that consistently used to roll through my property coursing deer while I’m sitting in my stand.
I found the owner and politely told him that his dogs were busting up my hunts on my place. Please to keep his dogs on his property.
Luckily for the dogs, the guy was very cool, apologized, and built a kennel.
It’s pretty frustrating to bust your arse paying a mortgage, scouting, putting in food plots, building stands, etc. and having someone let their dogs run through your hunts coursing deer.

I feel for the guy but there are specific laws in Ark that are in place for Turkey season specifically and the laws are very lenient if the dogs were running and or harassing wildlife or livestock on private property.
It sucks but this guy has to share some blame.
