"Zeke" whats up bud? Still slummi'n with the Slidell crew? Is S. Louisiana retriever club having their D-Q this winter in the spillway?
I may have a contender. We'll see.
Rip is 11 now and can't see marks past 200 anymore so we just been running a few HT's,and the occasional Grand when I don't have to drive to timbucktoo.
BY the way folks for those that don't know. FC/AFC= (Field Champion/Amateur field champion)and is AKC's highest title for a field trial retriever . We are talking dogs that have a market value of 20-$75,000.000 and some have sold for much more; so congrats Zeke!

Hey KJS,Still training with most of the group. I believe we will have a single DQ at the end of Jan.

I know of one that sold for $450,000.00. Not bad for a black dog. A friend of mine sold one for $250,000.00 last month.

Hope to see you soon!

Some good looking dogs in here. Although if I had my laptop I think mine would win. For looks at least. Not so much hunting. Although he did catch a baby armadillo one day and bring it to me all proud.

What is so got damn special about these dogs? I understand they are phenomenal field dogs, but 450K is just outrageous.

I guess the easy way to explain these prices is, these dogs are like the Kentucky Derby winners of the dog world. That kind of money means little to the person that bought "both" of those dogs.

it is subsantially less than.... what a 7'1" guy that can move a little and dunk.. makes.. which in my humble opine.. I would rather the bird dog.

Yep. I'm in Amite River HRC (Hunting Retr Club is a UKC affiliate). Its a gundog type club that hosts an annual spring hunt-test where dogs are judged against a standard in 3 divisions; started, seasoned, and finished. (novice, intermediate, advanced) We meet monthly at Bass Pro. Also club training days are held from time to time. A great place to learn from knowledgable amateurs and pro's alike.
S.La retriever club is an AKC trial club. Not being a member i'm not sure if or when they meet-up but I do know they have training groups that train in the spillway from time to time. I started 12 years ago with the club and I owe its members alot for the successes I've had. Check our www.arhrc.org for more info.
