So I have figured out how to get around getting warranty voided. What intakes would yal recommend? Also I am looking for a "quieter" exhaust, I want the performance, not the sound.
The single largest performance mod you can do is get a tuner. Mike at 5Star has some great tunes. Just adding a cold air intake and a catback exhaust wont really give you any kinda significant gains. These trucks come tuned down so bad for the mpg gains, and a good tune removes most of that shite. For example, I know for my truck (the 5.0) they come from the factory with a rev limiter on them so that no matter how far you put the pedal down, under 4500 rpm the throttle body will only open half way. shite like that neuters what even a stock motor is capable of.

The tuner is what I am talking about, it was the only thing I was worried about voiding the warranty. Now just trying to figure out what intake and exhaust. Want to do headers but he said thats a diff nono.

A buddy I talked to who owns a shop says he is good friends with some guy at Diablo, $ back guarantee it is untraceable if you follow exactly how to set the stock setting back before you bring it in to get fixed. Says if leaves no traces or watermarks.
Ive heard this from a bunch of people who eventually got busted. just a heads up.

When you say intake are you talking manifold or just the airbox? Also what kinda truck/powertrain do you have?

A new 5.3
Well hoping I wont have to put it in the shop anytime soon, I wont be horsing it to much. I baby the shite out of it.

Cant help you with that GM garbage.

To be honest I wasn't specific, he was prob thinking just the cold air intakes, a new manifold prob would void the warranty. shite

My last one still purrs with over 225K, when that 5.0 craps out at 100K, give me a shout, I have a double axle I will pull it to the junk yard with.

Late. What is going on in here?

GM is for commies.
Might as well go ahead and buy a Smith and Wesson and get some ammo from Cheaper than Dirt and send Obama some campaign money.

I dont know anything about GM upgrades. The new Fords come with an air intake system that some could argue is on par with most after market cold air intakes. Plus the aftermarket filters dont filter the air near as well, so more dust gets in the motor. If I were you I would just throw a nice catback on there strictly for sound preference and get a tuner from a quality company. Im a big fan of magnaflow as far as sounding great but not being over the top loud. Solo also sounds nice but they are canadian (as in north of the border).

I spend a lot of times on diesel forums and this always comes up. A lot of it has to do with the dealer you take it to. some are dicks and some will let it slide.
Posted on 2/18/13 at 10:40 pm to DieselTiger1
Anyone know if Robinson brothers would be dicks about it??
I wouldn't mind programming mine if it wouldn't void the warranty.

I did a ton of shite to my truck after the first few months. I used lakeshore dodge and never had any trouble with the few things I had to take it to them for.
obviously that doesnt help you

LOL only an idiot ignores history.
Posted on 2/18/13 at 10:45 pm to DieselTiger1
I've never had this problem before. My last two trucks were hand downs so there was no warranty to worry about.
Hopefully mine runs out soon.
