It's not a question of whether or not the .380 is lethal. It's a question of its effectiveness in incapacitating a determined attacker. We choose a CCW handgun because it's concealable, but still recognize that in 9mm, .40, .45, etc, they are very weak in comparison to a 12 or 20 gauge shotgun, or a centerfire rifle. Why handicap ourselves even further by choosing a .32 or a .380 ??
The reason .380 was mentioned was because of its innate concealability. You literally can wear it with anything. You could probably shove it up the shite cutter if you were naked. It's THAT small, hence why it was mentioned.
If the OP wishes to carry in the pocket, a .380 is a great option for that. If he wishes to carry IWB, obviously a single stack in 9, 40, or 45 would be a better option.

There are plenty of small (pocket size) reliable handguns available in 9mm that essentially obviate the need for a .380. The Kahrs, M&P Shield, SIGs and Berettas would be options worth examining.

Maybe so... But you have to think about how much more weight you're carrying.
6+1 rounds of 90gr HP
vs
6+1 rounds of 124gr HP
It weighs down your pants pretty good (from experience). I won't lie... I've carried in the pocket occasionally. But it's much more comfortable in my waistband.
My dad's Kahr P380... It's like another cell phone or wallet.
I still feel more secure with my 9mm but I don't feel inadequate with his .380.

I carry 100% of the time (except prohibited locations).
My EDC is G19 in OWB Comp-Tac, but I occasionally pocket-carry a PM9 as a BUG. I have really never found the PM9 to add excessive weight, but I'll admit that I'm almost always wearing a decent gunbelt (Beltman or Wilderness).
I've never measured or researched the weight difference between the Kahr .380 and the PM9, but I can't imagine it being more than 4-5 ounces. My "peace of mind" weighs more than that.

Touche'.
The Kahr P380 weighs 11.2 ounces with an empty magazine. That is really really light.
If you have pants with a solid belt on, I think the weight is less of an issue. But until you can find a 9mm that doesn't feel heavy in athletic shorts, I still think the .380 is the best for pocket carry, not because of the size, but because it doesn't matter what kind of pants you're wearing - it'll work fine.
That being said, my CM9 is much easier to shoot (as I'm sure your PM9 is). I definitely enjoy the peace of mind carrying the extra firepower.

I'm not "in love" with the Kahrs, but I get to buy them through their "Instructor Program," at a significant discount, so I have a few. I find myself occasionally making room (making accommodations) to carry the P9 or the K9 as a BUG. Now we're talking quite a bit bigger and heavier than the typical .380, but followup shots with the P9 & K9 are far easier to control.
Now if the Kahr trigger just had a reset position .............

Definitely agree with this.
But, the way they have designed the trigger, it's hard to argue that there is any other double action trigger that is as smooth. There is no binding, no stacking, no sponginess, just a smooth, consistent pull.
