I usually us duck or fish guts. Works really well. Beef hearts works well if you can find them at the grocery store.

Anyone use the catfish bait at Walmart or Academy?

we jugline a lot during the spring when water is right. DO NOT waste your money on that crap from wally world or academy. we have tried it all and have not had much luck.

we usually try to catch fresh shad with cast net, works the best for us. if that is a no go we try to use cut bait or beef melt (nice and bloody).

not saying the package stuff never works but we have had no luck with it.

oh, we have used noodles, jugs, and styrofoam blocks. for one or two hooks i like noodles. the styrofoam blocks allows us to put numerous hooks at different depths. if several fish are on, it still stays floating pretty well.
