If you keep a truck forever go RAM as it will have the worse resell.

If you plan on selling and need resell go Ford with the 5.0

I’ve got a 22 lariat 5.0 4wd and came from a 16 with the 5.0

I love the motor. Sounds awesome, hauls arse even with 35” mts, and dont really expect any issues.

There’s some glitchy things with the 22 with all the tech in it, but so far I’ve been pretty happy. The only thing I don’t like about it is the 10spd tranny. Still doesn’t shift great and it’s had 45k to learn it. My 6spd in the 16 was much smoother.

As long as ford keeps offering the key pad, I doubt I ever change. Like someone else mentioned, it’s much roomier in the rear especially with the flat floor.

Eta: and forscan is awesome if you have the patience to figure it out. I’ve been able to some cool stuff. Global windows, door chime delete, brighter DRLs, added some things on the gauge cluster, and some others I can remember.

Love my GMC Denali. Small Diesel. Great fuel economy and I’ve had the 6.2 liter V8 on the previous 3. Anybody else with the Diesel experience? Lots of power and 22-25 MPG. Vs. 17-18 with the 6.2.

Are they finally starting to come down on used truck prices? I may go this route on my next one.

I just had to replace both water pumps and a thermostat on my 2018 5.0 at 90k miles, just FYI. Apparently it’s common with those engines.

From personal experience, the current model GMCs are prone to electrical problems. We’ve had issues with some fleet vehicles.

Welp, I pulled the trigger. My mud riding is minimal, so I negotiated a tire allowance as part of the deal, so I will replace these and expect to be able to sell the mudders. They are brand new and $500/tire. And since I was financing part of the purchase, got a sweet bumper to bumper 100K mile warranty thrown in.

It’s a 2023, but only has 9850 miles on it, and cleaner than clean. Drove it, and the GMC loaded out Denali and the features and fit weren’t even close to the same. At my age, my next vehicle will probably be a motorized scooter, so decided to treat myself.

Single owner, clean CarFax. I feel like it cost too much, but I think all of them too. I didn’t QUITE get to the “that cost more than my first house” level, but close.

Don’t get me wrong. I love my truck. Will buy another Ford whenever I replace this one.

why does the RAM get a lot of skepticism?

Legacy "dodge is junk" reputation which they still manage to hang on to. Current gen 5.7's eat cams and lifters resulting in engine replacements. I wouldn't own a 5.7 or 6.4 unless I got one of those sweet lifetime warranties they were offering for a while.

Oh, I didn’t take it the wrong way. I’ve had an F150 in the past, and am currently driving a 2003 GM with the 5.3 and nearly 300K miles on it. My gf was driving it yesterday and hit a buzzard (fricked up the grill) so I took that as a sign it was time to buy a new ride.

you need to find and test drive an f150 with the 3.5
that engine has more torque than the 5.0 and they haul arse…

They are very peppy. But many folks I talked to (mechanics) don’t think they will last like an old school V8, especially doing a lot of towing. Heat is no bueno, and wringing that many horses out of a small engine is going to be tough on it in the longterm. Only time will tell. Getting 300K miles out of my 5.3 sent me back to an 8.

I’ve had the ecoboost before, fast but the 5.0 is no slouch and actually sounds like a truck.

I’d buy an ecoboost if the price was right, but if I’m picking it’s v8 all day

Is that a 23? I don’t see the bed cam on the 3rd brake light and I think that was a casualty of that year with some parts shortages

I had the first generation ecoboost. The engine was fine, but gas mileage cut in half towing (3.73). 1/3 of my truck’s miles are from towing so I didn’t want to get another one.

Just out of curiosity was this a 2 wheel drive truck? I always thought Chevrolet used a Recirculating ball steering system.

Ford has been some cheap frickers since covid all while increasing price of their stuff. They took away a bunch of features from 21 to 22 to save a few cents, and it hasn’t stopped. The 2025s don’t even come with key pads anymore, and are dealer installed only for a few hundred bucks.

ETA: I wouldn’t worry about adding it. It’s cool but I don’t often need to look in my bed while I’m driving. One of those things that is cool, but I wouldn’t give a damn if it wasn’t there. Honestly just something else to break eventually.

I know the Gm trucks have caught a lot of shite about the lifters but I have a 2020 Sierra SLT with a 5.3 and I have put 183,000 miles on it with zero problems. It’s also been running a 4” lift and 35s the whole time which can add to the stress on a truck but this one is a gem.

I have a 2021 gmc with the 6.2. About 67,000 miles and no issues yet. Love the smooth shifting and power. I occasionally pull a big bay boat with it. You know it's back there, but still easier than dealing with a diesel for an occasional tow.

My buddy has a 2022 Ram and loves it. Says it's his fav truck still, despite the dash cracking and Ram being of no help to fix it. I suspect it's little things like that that keep people doubting. I bet this truck tows better than mine with it's air adjustable suspension.

Any of the 3 could give you problems, or not.

Pick the one that makes you feel good and don't look back.

was this a 2 wheel drive truck?

2018 Texas Edition 4WD. Hit a small pothole going about 35 mph and power steering went out. Drove it home and then to my local mechanic. He said that it may just need a reprogram (totally electronic now and no pump replacement could be done), and that he wasn't capable of doing that.

I took it to the dealership and asked them about that and they smirked and said "probably not". I knew what was coming and when they called me back the bill was 2939.85.

I absolutely hate letting a dealership work on my vehicles, but they've made it to where you have to.

I'm a GMC guy so I agree with Rize!

I drove a 2500 Denali, best riding truck I have ever been in. I would assume the 1500 version is just as nice.
