ETA: HOWEVER, this would pose huge issues for rural Alaskans (particularly natives who live in the villages) from voting...so maybe not. Those folks cant afford nor care about a passport. Many of them just have tribal IDs issued by Bureau of Indian affairs (i.e. not even a DL)

ETCs are an acceptable for of identification for TSA. There is nothing in the SAVE Act that would make them an unacceptable for of identification for voting. So that is a nonissue.

If this passes then the republicans would likely be able to pass their proposed legislation which makes ignoring federal laws a crime. So the government will be able to prosecute them if they ignore.

He has said that he would vote for it but he has not signed on as cosponsor as of last night. Also do not know if he is willing to change to force it to a vote using a talking filibuster instead of a zombie filibuster.

Does it really matter if it passes or not? If it does pass will things actually change or will Dem states simply hand out state IDs to illegals.
