- The post cites a Polymarket prediction market showing a 77% probability that the U.S. Supreme Court will strike down President Trump's 2025 "Liberation Day" tariffs as exceeding authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, with rulings expected January 10, 2026.
- These tariffs, imposing 10-50% duties on imports from most trading partners since April 2025, have faced lower court losses and could lead to billions in refunds if invalidated, potentially lowering consumer prices but straining federal budgets projected to lose $3 trillion over a decade.
- Market odds reflect oral arguments from November 2025 where even conservative justices expressed skepticism, aligning with broader legal challenges to executive overreach in trade policy amid ongoing U.S.-China tensions.

It’ll be interesting to see how Trump fights it, if ruled illegal.

The 77% odds are from Polymarket. The X account in the OP just put it in news format.

And Hillary had an 85% chance of winning on election day 2016.

Why are Democrats even taking this to court in the first place?

There would be no more fight, legally at least.

The admin would have to go back to Square 1 and start over using a different law.

No.

That is not an accurate description of the issue/debate.

Why did Republicans sue to stop the Biden vax mandate? Or the Biden student loan forgiveness?

The underlying argument is the same for all 3 matters: whether or not the President had the statutory authority to engage in this manner.

Trump’s tariff and trade efforts, while chaotic, have been a massive success by any objective measure. If the people in Congress really cared about this country they would be rushing to codify what Trump has done.

If so will all the money collected from the tariffs have to be paid back?

Will the Democratic Socialists blame the SCOTUS for the markets tanking or will they celebrate the event as a victory for Democratic Socialism?
