I worked at a location that hired a large number of H1B workers for a "management program" at hotel restaurants that definitely did restrict opportunities and depress wages for the rest of us. That's been more than a decade ago at this point, but yes I have had personal experience with this.
That said, personal experience means nothing. Anecdotal evidence is not evidence. The reality is that H1B visa holders are taking jobs that could be filled with American workers. We are all affected because this artificially deflates wages across the board.
ETA: To be clear, these were entry-level, no-skill positions. They were taking people primarily from Germany for "front of house" and Malaysia for "back of house."

Yea my 28 yr. old white male son who has 2 Masters Degrees in Computer Science and Robotics from VA Tech and Imperial College in London.
He gets through all of the coding tests, and then gets to the final panel interview that is stocked full of Indians.
Gets rejected every time.
