sounds like indigenous tribes here also who fought each other over lands and took slaves. see apache and comanche

Yes it happened here. The indigenous would actually sell their own family members sometimes too - especially after whitey moved in..

One other detail - they had generally atrocious health problems BEFORE whitey arrived.

Malnourishment is thought to be the main culprit

Thriving? That's a pretty strong word for the hispanic and black world at the time of colonization.

Well the only real issue with this is the fact that this AP credit is only going to be good if the person goes on to study African-American Studies in college. Probably at a HBCU.

This is one of the issues with AP. Tons of students are taking several AP classes each year, but only a handful will actually be able to be applied to a college transcript.

Interesting to think that blacks in American school systems have been asked to understand the cultures and Histories of people who have actually accomplished things on this planet.

Everything is about Race now more than ever, don't let anyone tell you different.

It's like taking AP chewing gum class for credit.

Depending on your program, it can qualify toward your elective hours.

I had a program with 4 required elective hours. Got a 3 on one AP exam which didn’t apply to the degree I ended up in (switched majors right before enrolling as a freshman). Between that and one hour for orientation weekend, I knocked out my electives before ever setting foot into a classroom.

I heard they are building one of these next door. Problem solved.
