Lower taxes across the board dumbass! That should be the incentive for all economic growth. Governments should not pick and choose which companies get tax benefits and which have to pick up the tab for it

So you must have thought Obama's urban economic "promise zone" idea was dumb as shite too, right?

He's not president yet, dumbfrick. He can no easier charge Carrier a trade tariff than you can.

To sit here and complain about a saving 1000 American manufacturing jobs because they got a 7 mil tax break when the unemployment cost alone would have been 7 mil is beyond stupid. It's hackish.

States do this all the time. Some of you just learned about this today.

Municipalities do it all the time also. I have opposed it every time it happens, and will continue to do so.

There will be tax cuts across the board federally. This was a state issue. Set up by pence.

A state issue, set up by Pence that Trump is taking credit for?

I'm sure you believe that, and you would be wrong.

Just stop. Carrier is very publicly giving both Trump and Pence credit for this deal.

I don't think that governments should use tax incentives to lure a specific business to a state at the expense of other business in that state.

He singularly can't enact tariffs anyway yet people ate it up. I at lead thought he would tweet about tariff though. He did so many times re: Carrier.

I'll bookmark and eat crow when he gets this pushed through Congress.

You remind me of the idiots that lost a car plant in my city about 25 years ago.

They wanted 20 years of no taxes on the land and plant, dumb asses voted no, plant goes to another state 3500 employees at average 35 bucks an hour lost because you know it isn't fair.

I'm not sure if people realize companies get tax breaks from states all the time. Infact it's usually normal procedure. It just doesn't make national news usually.

States offer tax breaks openly so businesses will open shop in that state. How many people here are really this ignorant of reality and are just using this as an excuse for faux outrage so they can be mad at trump?

It was a good deal. Everyone who disagrees is an idiot.

You should be careful calling people idiots...

Carrier agreed to tax credits a while back which was intended then to keep the company in Indiana and not Mexico. They reneged on that agreement an later made their famous announcement. The state of Indian was upset enough to ask for their money back. Carrier obliged and now we offer them multiple times that offer and you think it is a good deal...you sir might be the idiot. We pay their parent company nearly $7billion a year through defense contracts. That makes up 10% of their companies annual revenue and you want to convince this board that, that isnt enough to warrant them keeping jobs in the US without additional incentives??? You cant see the truth so I just gave it to you.

Why? Different cities have different advantages and disadvantages to companies.

You know that business doesn't pay taxes don't you? It's all reflecting consumer purchases. If you own a business and you are able to stay in business, taxes must be paid.

A logical person must assume that it was a combination of: incentives, threat of bad press vs good press, a true desire to stay if possible, and fear of a legitimate severe punitive tariff that may be enacted by the new MAGA regime
