Like Russia, they know better than anyone that this is how you erode a target, enemy society, and they protect themselves from it.

They try to. I'm not for censorship, and I don't want any harm or use of legal means to punish homosexuality. I simply wish it wouldn't be spun as something to be proud of or encouraged.
And it should most certainly not be viewed as a civil rights issue.
