Well, I'm fairly new to the board, but I wouldnt think there would be too many black posters. Tends to be a fairly conservative bunch. I may be wrong, in which case I hope they read this post and try to hear this perspective. Thanks OP, that was eloquent and succinct.

What I wish black people got is by and large white people don't wish them any ill. A prosperous black community would be good for everybody. I just wish they could get over the damned past, live in the present, and look to the future.

THis is very true. I don't have excess money and in fact am budgeting tight right now for a move I'm about to make, but I found room in my budget to help a very nice and motivated black woman I know that needed a helping hand to get started with a work from home position. I bought her with a computer and a lead on a WFH company that's always hiring.
Did I do it because she's black? No indeed. I did it because I could and think it may be the missing step to her being able to provide for herself and her good for nothing brother. But I sure didn't NOT do it because she was black. That's how they often make it sound, like we're discriminating against them, making their life harder.
I believe wholeheartedly that 98% of white people want to help black people as long as that help provides them with self sustaining abilities. The time for continuous handouts is over. I'll help get you a wrench, but you're going to have to turn the nuts yourself if you want to be a mechanic.
