Epstein was never convicted of trafficking.
As for Maxwell, her trial seems fricky at best:
--out of the government's own claimed pool of supposedly 1000+ "victims", precisely FOUR were brought to testify at trial (this means that they intentionally did NOT call Giuffre, BTW). Based on the profile and/or testimony of all 4, it actually seems amazing that a conviction was secured. One was an active schizophrenic. One had a major monetary incentive. One alleged she was victimized in an orgy, yet the prosecution did not call any of the other identified participants. SO...the DEFENSE called them, and they said no orgy ever happened. etc.
--bad jury: AT LEAST one of the jurors lied on the intake forms about having been a personal victim of sexual abuse (possibly 2 or even 3). When it looked as if an acquittal were coming, this person stood up and gave an impassioned plea of "this happened to ME. we need to BELIEVE THESE WOMEN"
--the whole "interstate commerce" angle to establish "trafficking" was absurd...the massage table was made out of state. That was the hook
There's more, but it's very odd that people will believe ANY CRAZY CONSPIRACY, yet ignore government lawfare and other crazy tactics as well as lousy juries. The fact that her appeal has been denied is crazy.
