An ethnic Indian I met was a chemical engineer from a good American university. His job was outsourced to India.
It is all about saving some money. The customer reps in India make 50% or less than their US counterparts.

That's why I never understood all of the people pushing for remote work. It seems short sighted.
If your job can be done remotely by you from a few miles away, then your company with realize it can be done cheaper by someone in Bangladesh.
Cheaper doesn't equal better though. This especially holds true when it comes to Software Engineering. Usually what have seen is that yes the labor is cheaper but so is the deliverable. The delivered code is almost always never on time and is usually riddled with bugs. I have seen some code that was so bad that it had to be scrapped completely and redone. Overall the engineers over there are usually not as skilled and usually lack basic critical thinking and troubleshooting skills. They are good with small repeatable tasks but give them something complicated with many layers and they always fall short. The bean counters are learning that rework cost losts of money and something you can't put a price on and thats time.

I'm sure most of you have worked in the or around the corporate world to know there is a lot of 'fluff'. Meaning - there are a lot of people who don't actually do anything, or do enough to warrant making whatever they make. All that fluff builds up and eventually a new manager new walks in or the shite hits the fan and they let the fluff go, but good people are caught up in the layoffs or outsourcing.

These are some of the jobs going to be outdated soon. All an accountant does is learn a whole bunch of rules and laws and make sense of it. That's something every gen AI tool can do easily.
Sure, there will be some low-level accounting jobs that will go away in the near future but good luck having your tool explain complicated tax planning involving numerous countries to the C-Suite and the various tax authorities.
