Damn, is that really the case? I haven't kept up with it.

Yep. Maria was part of the whole slush fund scheme with the Pilosis, Bidens, and Kerrys.

This story starts with the CIA-backed demonstrations that ousted the Russian-aligned president. The regime that took over rewarded Obama’s backing by essentially setting up a massive crony money laundering scheme to give U.S. foreign aid and Ukrainian tax dollars to the children of connected Washington insiders like Hunter.

A Ukrainian prosecutor discovered the fraud and started a formal investigation. Biden then called the Ukrainian President and threatened to withhold money if the investigation wasn’t dropped. The Ukrainian President agreed, fired the prosecutor, and closed the investigation.

Last year, despite heavy support from Maria Yovanovitch and the usual Obama era suspects, that Ukrainian President lost re-election, and a new nationalist regime came to power. That new regime revived the investigation into Burisma and Biden. When they attempted to bring their findings to DOJ, they were repeatedly stonewalled by the State Dept and Yovanovitch in particular. That prompted the Ukrainian President to inform Trump. Trump then fired Yovanovitch in May.

“The call” was about Trump informing the Ukrainian President that the State Department would no longer intervene, so they should go ahead and coordinate with Trump’s people to hand over the evidence.
