Yeah. I mean, I agree with the sentiment that this BLM shite is hardening fast into an enforceable orthodoxy. It's pushed me to vote for Trump almost no matter what.

But that doesn't mean this thread isn't bullshite. The vast majority of people in the US weren't taught real shite that actually happened.

George Orwell wrote the book “1984” in 1949. He wrote it against totalitarianism. His words are eerily prophetic of what is happening right now.
The other thing that's facile/naive about this is how black Americans really did live in a totalitarian American state for many decades. Slavery is obvious, so I'll leave that aside.

But Jim Crow was 100 years of totalitarian terror visited upon black Americans. Do you understand how tone deaf and ignorant you seem when you act as if this shite just started happening in the last several years just because it's finally hitting YOU where it hurts?

These totalitarian impulses have ALWAYS been deeply embedded in American society.

You can start with the falsified evidence your black Jesus and his cohorts used to get the Russian collusion hoax started.

So your remedy to something that happened 70 years ago is to see to it that it happens to people now?

How many people are going to post this quote?

Is there a certain number, that once exceeded, it fails to be true?

I don't think anyone is saying otherwise are they? Who are you arguing with?

1984 is an example of totalitarian governance against the governed using "Big Brother" tactics.

Slavery is slavery. No one is making a connection to 1984 and slavery.

ETA: And Jim Crow was blatant racist segregation policy. Again, not the main focus of 1984.

The definition of anarchy literally was changed last week. It went from an individual decision to no government.

I'm not usually someone to harp on reposts, but right now, that number is about 20. I'm not even exaggerating. About 20.

And it's a fantastic quote. I don't want it to get used up.

Of course not - but it's ahistorical to pretend like it just started.

I think plenty of people would not agree with this simple statement of fact: black Americans lived under a state of American totalitarian tyranny until ~1970.

Slavery is slavery. No one is making a connection to 1984 and slavery.
Which is why I said put that aside.

The idea of this thread is that FINALLY Orwell's predictions are truly coming to pass. My response is that is silly - they've been happening all along - both before and after he wrote 1984. And it seems tone deaf to pretend like the Steele Dossier or whatever the stupid Russian shite is is the first instance of it. It's like people have never heard of J Edgar Hoover.
