And the normally LEFT leaning media acts like they care and that they thought he was a mavrick.
RIP but also sad this was the only way to remove him from a job he refused to let go of.

I don’t wish dish upon anyone. I don’t wish cancer upon anyone.
Disagreed with about everything McCain stood for in the GOP party. However I hope he finds peace in the next life. I hope he finds paradise.

Not a fan of the man. I still feel badly for his family though.
My sentiments as well, just because it’s hard to lose a family member no matter how long or short their life.
Still, he made it to 81 as a male with a pretty rough history, a fairly stressful position in the public spotlight for decades, and a cancer diagnosis, which is pretty damn good. I know I’ll be doing good to make it much past 70.
I disliked his politics and I wish he had put aside his personal beef these last few years to more accurately serve his constituents as the man and policies they elected, but that same stubbornness is probably what kept him living as long as he did. Still would’ve preferred him to go out with a cleaner and more respectable ledger when all is said and done.

Not one of my favorite politicians but I do think he loved this country. He went through hell after being shot down in Viet Nam. RIP John McCain.

.
For those that are clueless when it comes to replacing him and how the timing with midterms affects the process (like I was before a google just now):
- since it happened after May 30th it’s too late to be added to the midterm vote and the governor of AZ (R - Ducey) is now charged with naming a replacement that will serve until the general elections in 2020 when the seat can be voted on by the public
- the replacement has to be from the same party as McCain, and Governor Ducey has already said he will not appoint himself as some expected. Ducey has refused to even hint at his possible replacement choice as long as McCain was alive, as he believed it to be “disgraceful”
- the senate seat will be open for voting in the 2020 general election, where it’ll most likely be the governor’s replacement vs a Dem candidate. Winner takes the seat until McCain’s original 6 year term expires in 2022
- the whole process and replacement candidate pool is further complicated by the fact that AZ’s other Senate seat is up for election at midterms, and the republican incumbent Flake is retiring. The two best republican candidates to replace McCain are still wrapped up in primaries for THAT Senate seat
Speculated replacements by the media include:
+ Cindy McCain, 64, the senator’s wife. She is a philanthropist and businesswoman and could represent her husband’s legacy while pursuing her own priorities in Washington, DC, such as her advocacy against human trafficking.
+ Kirk Adams, 45, Ducey’s chief of staff and a former state lawmaker. He ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2012.
+ Barbara Barrett, 67, chairman of the Aerospace Corporation and former US Ambassador to Finland. She was the first woman Republican to run for governor of Arizona in 1994.
+ Jon Kyl, 76, who from 1995 to 2013 served alongside McCain in the Senate.
+ The Arizona Republic (newspaper) also mentions real estate development company president Karrin Taylor, former Rep. John Shadegg, State Treasurer Eileen Klein, and former Rep. Matt Salmon.
One possible contender would have been Republican Rep. Martha McSally, but she is already running for the Senate this year to take Flake’s seat. The other was Dr. Kelli Ward, also running for that seat.

Lot of dishonest people in here right now, too cowardly to speak the truth and trying to play it off as if they occupy some moral high ground.
I've had to deliver personal effects to a rather disliked fellow's family once. I was ambivalent about his death but felt bad for his family. They were clearly the only people on earth that loved him.
Because of McCain's long decline I've become ambivalent about his death and I do feel sorry for his family. They certainly do love him.
But on balance he was a huge negative for this country. This can't be overstated and it should never be forgotten. It's a shame he's going be honored in death, because he doesn't deserve it.
If he had been healthy for all of this time during Trump's presidency, he would have been as disruptive and dangerous as Jeff Sessions and the Special Counsel. McCain is a big factor in all the difficulty as it is and no one should be handing out fake sentiments for him just because of his death. He worked behind the scenes to spread outright lies, disinformation, and worked to bring about a plot to overturn the results of a presidential election.
His meddling on the foreign affairs side and MIC are nothing short of reprehensible.
There's an oath of office for military officers and civilian officers of the federal government, and it addresses supporting the Constitution. I'm of the opinion that, not only did John McCain fail to live up to that oath, he acted in opposition to it.
When an individual who behaves in such a manner passes away, it's a good day for the nation.

Of course you liked him, he was a liberal in his actions. Though you’re wrong about him making our country stronger. Sellouts like him are a cancer on our country and Trump is the chemotherapy.

I hated you as a 'maverick' in the Republican party.
I salute you as an American soldier, and as a man.
Godspeed, Mr. McCain!!!

No one that is of sound mind and credibly informed will seriously argue that McCain is a conservative, not even the people being "classy" in this thread.
You can call McCain many things, but being a conservative is not one of them.
He repeatedly lied to Arizona voters about how he was fighting illegal immigration and to repeal ObamaCare only for him to vote with democrats on those issues.
McCain a conservative? Don't make me laugh.
