Did Trump stop anyone from re-opening? No?
He allowed the individual states to determine their own course of action?
That’s weird.
It’s almost as though he believes in states rights.

He put the politically driven hyper hysterical troll Fauci in charge and explicitly opposed Kemp’s decision to reopen.

You must be a Yankee carpetbagger.
I know for a fact two people who were run off beaches in Florida and were told it was on orders from the governor's office.
Two more people that my father-in-law knows were run off beaches by deputies and they were told it came from the governor's office.
Four different beaches in four different counties.
I know two people who were standing/sitting on the beach in Florida every day in 2020.
Me and my wife.
We were never once approached or removed, along with the several others out there. In fact, there weren't even any evil "deputies" to be seen policing the beaches.
Also
Two more people that my uncle's cousin's barber knows were standing on the beach in Miami and they were given a $5000 check and a bunch of balloon animals from deputies for wearing blue and gray shirts while dancing to the 90s hit "Who Let the Dogs Out", and they were told it came from the governor's office! Can you believe that!
See, I can make shite up too

At the height of the Delta variant surge in the summer of 2021, Florida made up roughly one in five new infections nationally and at one point had more than 10,000 people hospitalized.

DeSantis was also an early proponent of vaccinating the elderly. DeSantis’ administration points to the Covid cases in the younger population as evidence of the governor’s successful push to get the elderly in the state vaccinated. More than 85 percent of those older than 65 in Florida have been fully vaccinated.
“We recognize that cases and hospitalizations have shifted to a younger demographic because we have been so successful with vaccinating seniors,” said DeSantis’ press secretary Christina Pushaw, who added “we must continue this stride to expand vaccination rates across eligible age groups.”

Pushaw sparred with reporters on Twitter over the increase in Covid hospitalizations at Tallahassee’s largest hospital. At one point, Pushaw noted the city is Democratic-leaning and questioned why more people did not get vaccinated even though a reporter tweeted a story quoting Tallahassee Memorial Health Care chief communications officer Stephanie Derzypolski saying “this is the most we’ve ever had.”
Pushaw has since deleted the tweets.

Yet the state is trending in the wrong direction in almost every other measurable Covid-19 category. Last week, Florida reported 110,477 new cases, which is a nearly 600 percent increase from the 15,998 new cases reported just four weeks earlier.

March 9, 2020: Declares a state of emergency
As the early stage of COVID-19 took hold — with infections confirmed in eight Florida counties — DeSantis declared a state of emergency. This was a full week prior to coronavirus guidelines asking for "15 days to stop the spread".
Notably, in light of DeSantis’s later professed concern with civil liberties, the order gave the coordinating officer the authority to “suspend the effect of any statute, rule or order that would in any way prevent, hinder, or delay any mitigation, response or recovery action necessary to cope with this emergency.”

July 21, 2021: Praises vaccines, advocates vaccinations
DeSantis expressed enthusiasm for people getting their shots during this phase of the rollout. On a visit to St. Petersburg on July 21, according to the local Fox station, he “spoke for nearly seven minutes about the positives in getting vaccinated and how he believes authorities should be advertising the vaccine.”
“If you are vaccinated, fully vaccinated, the chance of you getting seriously ill or dying from COVID is effectively zero,” DeSantis said.

Haha. Trump is going to get destroyed in the debates over Covid. Whether he’s there or has a sudden bone spur.

I’m sure firing Fauci the NIH director for over 30 years right at the start of a global pandemic wouldn’t have caused any problems for Trump. Would have gone over great! Why didn’t he do that?
