It’s really not standard practice. At least, it’s not by anyone who has any true understanding of or experience with reputation management.
One of the absolute most effective and expedient ways to torpedo your entity’s image is to block/hide people who are respectfully disagreeing with you. Even the not-so-respectful replies are often better left untouched, as long as they’re not vulgar, abusive, or completely fake. People are going to discern far more about your credibility (or lack thereof) based on how you react to other people’s negativity than they would from the negativity itself.
