I didn’t see it, but I heard Hunters performance in the tv debate didn’t do much for him.

I saw that the son pitched a hissy fit on Facebook so Marshall’s no bending over to get his endorsement has to give you some hope. That being said, I thought Nic had done a good job and deserved another term. They made this election about north LC and I guess north LC got out and voted.

Went to Port Wonder this morning and they did a nice job with it. Will be interesting once Crying Eagle and Paul’s open up down there. Hope the new mayor keeps the momentum going.

It’s going to be about the same result as dumping millions into inner city schools of Baltimore. You know where I’m going with this.

NLC is basically a ghost town these days compared to the past.

The black migration to Oak Park and the adjacent areas really did a number on NLC.

NLC just gets token lip service, but the reason why there isn't that much investment is because the population is decreased.

The real divide in LC is east v. West more than north/south these days

What did he want downtown to look like then? Broad Street?

I think he is against the new hotel and conference center they are building in place of the Cap one building.

I doubt he did it by making promises of investing in NLC

Did you watch the debate? He specifically called Nick out for this and said he wants to do more for NLC

I didn't watch but I said it was likely campaign talk

There just isn't really much that can be done in NLC. One of the big things they bitch about is not having a grocery store. I have no idea what the mayor can do about that.

Just looked it up. From KPLC website

Hunter (R) received 48% of the votes (7,049), while Simien (Ind.) received 52% (7,703)

Because the houses are decrepit and many have been torn down since not getting repaired after the storms

I tell people 12th St is like the DMZ. One side is the Garden District and peace and the other side is robberies and shootings. Also,12th St to Oak Park Blvd is bad but Oak Park Blvd to Prien Lake Rd is not bad at all. Its all pretty contained to that one area

They have Walmart on the Bayou

They had Kroger's on 12th but that building was shite and infested with rats so Kroger's chose to just leave.

I stay out of politics, but my read is Nic upset a lot of people who mattered and then didn't handle the debate well and there was a lot of momentum.

Also an out of state PAC spent an ungodly amount on attack ads.

But at the end of the day, a ton of white Republicans from SLC voted against Hunter.

It’s an easy ploy to trick conservative people in LC into voting for a Dem.

There’s plenty of examples and it’s not just D to Ind it can be the opposite as well.

It’s like Sid Edwards running as an independent in Baton Rouge. No matter what his affiliation he had a better shot at pulling the opposition with having the I instead of R or D

Marshall has been in LC/Calcasieu politics for decades. He's not sneaking up on anybody in 2025

Nice try, but no. That’s not why he was elected.

One of the mailouts I received.

This is the PAC

Website

Why they decided to jump into the LC Mayor's race, I have no idea.

They have a Market Basket to the south of Broad Street around the old LCB Cougar stadium and then the Walmart by Sallier Street diagonal from LCR plumbing warehouse.

They’re seriously crying about food deserts?

3rd sreet MB, yes, but "South of Broad St." is "South Lake Charles" to them

They aren't phrasing it in these terms. They're just thinking of tactile "investments" in NLC and ignoring all the actual government work done on government property.

Like I said, NLC's issues are because it's losing population, not because the city government is "ignoring" them.
