Sure as hell......the movers packed it in a hard case inside a wardrobe box. The box was one that was marked for storage so it wound up in a closet unopened for a year. I knew there wasn’t any way it had been stolen but I also had no idea where it was. We finally got around to cleaning the closet out and found it in a box full of towels and door mats.
It’s pretty common to hear a story about a moron losing a pistol. A school security guard in New Mexico lost his on school property about a week before school got out last year. As far as I know it has never been found.
I got a buddy who lost one over the summer. He and his family returned from vacation and when he was unloading the car he carried it in the house and laid it on the kitchen counter to go get another load. Forgot about it and their house keeper put it on a closet shelf and he had no idea where it was until he went in the coat closet to get a rain coat and there it was. As far as he knew it could’ve been anywhere between Texas and Florida.
As far as your bill of sale spiel I’m all in on it being required. That’s been my point ALL along.....it ain’t required though. It should be and if you don’t have it you should be guilty of a crime. I’ve bought and sold a sizeable number of guns from individuals...no one has ever mentioned a bill of sale. I’ve bought guns from individuals at gun shows.....not dealers....they didn’t get a bill of sale. Are you suggesting this is a legal requirement?
