what seems to be lost on many people is that this is a reversal of gross government overreach into our lives
all of the "pro-choice" leftists that want to have the federal government control every aspect of our lives don't even see their own hypocrisy
sure this is not an issue that affects our safety, national security or jobs & income
but this is amazingly good news! why? because it demonstrates a mindset and a new attitude at the top level of the federal government
states and local communities are supposed to make these decisions
I don't want the federal government steeping in and mandating what choices we are allowed to make

it's the sugar.
You are somewhat correct that we tend to overeat carbs more than fats as a country, but frying is often synonymous with reading which introduces unnecessary carbs in an otherwise carb free dish.
Also, though not as big of an issue as carbs, Americans could easily stand to cut their fat intake too.

Nope. Public schools(and some private ones) get USDA funding for school lunches. They have to follow USDA regulations to obtain that funding.

The reason kids today are so fat has nothing to do with what they put in their mouths. It has everything to do with the lack of physical activity they have to endure.

Yes, because before Michelle's big arse saved us everyone from the South was fat...
Someone just posted a thread about a regressive cuck that's literally eating shite and you SJWs want to lecture us on fried chicken?
Posted on 5/1/17 at 9:22 am to dcbl
Yay for fat kids and fried chicken!

Nothing captures the general schizophrenic nature of the Poliboard better than this thread.

Excellent. I have not met a kid who likes it anyway. The lunch ladies take themselves too seriously and police the kids like the gestapo.

As a school teacher, I want to point out this fact to the liberals on this board: kids didn't eat the healthy parts of the lunch. The amount of food thrown in the trash is maddening. They load up on the extras - ice cream and chips. They still don't eat healthy, so let's not pretend this is going to lead to obesity.
^^This. The kids don't eat the school foods because it's awful and then get a bag of chips or a candy bar for lunch out of the vending machine.

Anyone arguing that obesity is due to lack of exercise by kids is essentially claiming the sky is green.
Americans are obese across all age ranges and (perhaps unsurprisingly) younger people are actually MORE in shape.
The problem is that shitty eating habits developed as a child/teen will always catch up to you. At best you can stave off obesity until your 20s or early 30s by exercising. Then it all blows up in your face.
So sure your fricking chicken tendies every day may have had a delayed impact, but based on the over 40 obesity rate it has an impact.

I wonder how many people in this thread set foot in a school cafeteria before these regulations were implemented and after they were implemented...
Funny, but tater tots were still on the menu, only they are now baked instead of fried, same for chicken nuggets, same for corn dogs, same for just about anything else that was once fried... So, the carb load is still there, the only thing different is the breaded chicken nugget is now baked... and inedible in most cases... hell, I even saw breaded fish, baked...
The problem never was what the kids were consuming at school but what they were snacking on between meals and after school while they are sitting on their arse playing video games... After these regulations went into effect, kids quit eating as much and snacking more when they got home...
If the gubment was truly interested in solving the obesity issues in this country, then they would start by putting restrictions on what can be purchased with food stamps...
Health and nutrition is a parental responsibility... Always has been and always will be...

Kids aren't eating that shite Obama pushed on them anyway son. Don't get too dramatic over a facetious comment about fried food being healthy.

This really is the case. But, Obama's damage/legacy will remain for a long time, unfortunately. 8 years simply did a lot of damage.

"It's psychopathic and pathetic. It what teenage girls do When they get mad."
Parents who let their kids eat crap still let their kids eat crap no matter the rules. Just like gun-free zones having shootings.
If you want to make a difference then volunteer your time working with kids (fat, skinny, whatever).
The concept of Personal Responsibility is completely lost on you.
Dumbasses!!

I have. Sure, the new school lunches sucked, and I thought this program was clunky and poorly implemented. Like Obamacare, it had good intentions but was poorly executed.
And sure, kids are going to just eat something else just as unhealthy. But the cycle has to break at some point. Michelle and he cohorts just decided it was time the government did its part to break that cycle. Breaking that cycle unfortunately probably takes a generation, something Americans today don't have the patience for, especially with something that gets turned into a political football.

i'm assuming you'll accept the new york times?

Fried food is probably not on anyone’s lists of healthy eats, but you have to start with this: Fat is good for you.
The long-lived people of Crete might not drink a glass of olive oil a day, but they consume three times as much as we do, and that’s probably more desirable than our misguided notion that the less fat you eat, the better.
i'm guessing you've never had duck confit.
if you're worried about overly processed oils use lard.
fat's not the problem friend and most heart disease is genetic. it's processed carbs that make you fat.
i've been on a low carb diet since my early twenties i'm 6'1 and have a 32 inch waist and a 44 inch chest and i'm 56.

I'm so sick of the government being involved in any of this shite. They are so fricking corruptible by lobbyist. Everything from freaking healthcare, driving up cost for middle class, to school lunches, making kids fatter.

That should read that SOME fat is good for you, in moderation. When your entire diet is based on fried foods, the amount and type of fat you're ingesting is definitely not good for you. Add in when what is fried is battered before it's fried and it's a double whammy.

Indeed. Sugar and carbs are far more unhealthy than fat is. Even still, I am genetically predisposed for high cholesterol and I have to watch my fat intake. Lowering my carbs has had a bigger impact on my cholesterol numbers than lowering my fat intake did though.
