Sounds like a campaign promise that won't get out of the legislature but this puts the money on the state rather than the city of Jackson. Quasi "harsher penalties" because now they are under a different law enforcement purview is a pipe dream. The gang bangers don't know shite about the difference who the popo are. Blue lights are blue lights.

The only thing to fix Jackson, Birmingham and other similar cities is to invent a time machine, go back in time and flog LBJ.

Not really, there are other solutions, but they are too non-PC to describe here.

I used to do quite a bit of work in Jackson and the parts that are bad are really bad, but there are good parts. Belhaven and Fondren are growing and improving the city. The area around Jackson (Clinton, Ridgeland, Madison, Pearl, Brandon, and Flowood) are all super nice. This guys idea actually I think would help the city alot. Jackson has a chance to be redeemed. Its not as bad as some people think, the bad parts are just really bad.

It's worse than people think. Probably close to 75% of the city, geographically is literally "the hood". The city has been run by "that's racist" democrats for 30+ years. The folks I feel for are those older folks who have absolutely no option but to stay and hear gun shots anytime of the day and don't even feel comfortable sitting on their front porch.

I was more referring to the metro area around Jackson that is actually super nice, outside of Fodren and Belhaven and downtown during the day Jackson its self is dangerous as hell. West Jackson is one of the most dangerous places in the country.

I live in Madison and understand what you are saying. I worked in Jackson for 35 years. The medical corridors are safer than most parts of Jackson; St D, UMMC, Baptist and the Medical Mall (at great expense I might add). Belhaven is getting less safe. The Fondren businesses are having to pay a premium to keep customers safe. I am more familiar with Jackson's politics that other cities of similar size but it's always the common denominator; democratic leadership.

Yep I get what you're saying as well. The same thing happened in Little Rock, in LR they are short like 200 police officers because no one wants to work there and its moved over into North Little Rock as well. It's the result of 50 years of Democrat leadership.

I don’t know much about his proposal but Mark helped me get my wife’s autopsy report. I asked him to help on a Friday, I got it Tuesday afternoon. We spoke throughout. He earned my vote. I waited 18 months before I called him.

I don't know which is worse, the thugs that perpetrate crime in Belhaven area, or the people that actually live there.

I don't know him and I like what he says but Lynn is a personal friend and I thought she stood strong with the PERS and college loan program, so I am conflicted. I am just one vote as you are and I respect your decision to vote for him. I could live with either.

Meh, he is likely the best of a bunch of bad options though.
