It still does in some places. I live in a great area and a great building. It’s very quiet and private with beautiful landscaping. The city has gotten worse especially after Covid. But, the same can be said about everywhere.
Still not close to the late 80s and early 90s.

Richard Pennington changed things with proactive policing. Sadly that doesn’t exist here now and won’t anytime soon. Who wants to be a cop now?

But, Luvi is just a bunch of fried stuff.

And this is where you reveal that you don't know what you are talking about.

they have sushimi

Sushimi?

yes im sure other cities have fricking hummus, soups and salads.

Plenty of cities have those things. Are they as good as what Saba serves? The only place I've found that is comparable is Galit. And in those cities with food as good as Saba, what does the crime rate look like?

And as far as nagomi goes, there are japanese restuarants in other cities, hell there is a nagomi in kentucky

Wait, do you actually believe there is a relationship between the Nagomi in Kentucky and the one in New Orleans just because they have the same name? No one could be this stupid.

An historic city deserves more. It will take a whole lot of public interest within the state, as well as help from the government, to rebuild the internal as well as the surrounding areas.

It can be done. Not overnight, but it can be done.

Its a japanese restaurant in kentucky. Do you really think new olreans is th eonly place in the south to get japanese food?

calling people dumb.

Sushimi?

Sashimi, you can get sashimi outside of new orleans, you can get buttered corn on the cob too.

I lived in new orleans up until last month. The food thing is way overblown.

Oh, so now you are walking back your initial statement that it is "just a bunch of fried stuff". No one goes to Luvi for the fried stuff; they go for the feed me menu. You would have a lot of trouble finding a restaurant in the south with a similar selection of seafood and skill of preparation.

Throw Costera in with Luvi. Both are excellent restaurants. And I would challenge that finding a more “French” atmosphere than N7 is impossible in the South and maybe the country.

There are great restaurants all over the country. But only Charleston is comparable on a population criteria.

Yes, but your initial statement was that it was "just" a bunch of fried stuff. The literal meaning of that phrase is that there is nothing on the menu other than fried foods. This has been proven wrong.

Can you show me where I said that? I believe I said earlier in this thread that there are many cities in the United States that have food just as good or even better than New Orleans.

i might have to try n7 sometime, but it says no on under the age of 18 allowed. So this isnt some place you can go to with your family. And on their website they have warnings of not to park in places because you will get towed. sounds great.

Last year I was in NOLA and they were drag racing down Canal at 10 pm. No one cared. I looked at my buddy who works down in the quarter and he did not blink. This was right outside of the Fillmore Theatre. Not a cop in sight.

It actually says to uber a cab on their website.

But ill give you a french restaurant. Masion Lacour in baton rouge. lets see if N7 stays open for 36 years.

Maison Lacour is fantastic and better than N7. However, the crime in Baton Rouge isn't much better than New Orleans. That was my initial point--there are cities with restaurants just as good as the ones in New Orleans. There are cities with similar or better breadth and depth of cuisines. But they all have crime issues. I want to know if there is a place with the same breadth and depth of restaurants as New Orleans AND a materially lower crime rate.

Food is very subjective. I disagree with your opinion. The dumbest threads on this or any site are food posts about “What’s the best restaurant in town?” Ask twenty people and get twenty different answers.

N7 is a hybrid of French with Japanese twists. The chef is a Japanese woman. I won’t be around in 36 years. Lol.

I'd like to bring my family to NOLA for a weekend, but current conditions make it impossible to bring my children into that city.

It honestly felt like Mogadishu before LaToya. Now it seems like Kabul.

I want to eat the restaurants and visit with my family, but the risk isn't worth it.

I'd be more confident going to Chicago.
