"strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof."
We can start here and work our way towards an objective definition of insanity if you'd really like to carry out this experiment.

You should continue to do that. It's worked out well so far.

Why don't you enlighten the crowd.

He has a fricking philosophy degree from Stanford.

His being famous has nothing to do with the quality of his ideas. Neither does his being a scientist or a philosopher, even though you arbitrarily made that determination.

Nope. You keep digging, though. It's fun to watch.

Trump really reminded of Brian from "The Life of Brian".
Actually President Trump during his campaign reminded me more of Howard Beale from Network. He would channel into people's inner disgust of the world around them, except of course he had a real solution (elect me for President).

Are we discussing faith as it relates to religion or would you like to discuss it in an abstract sense absent of religion?
Your attempt to play hide the ball with the definition of the word faith, won't get you very far.

He knows nothing of Sam Harris but is now trying to tell us about Sam Harris after being wrong about who Sam Harris is.

Of course not, people have faith in all kinds of absurd things

The fear of the unknown/fear of death/etc. are the root motivations behind religion and faith. Everything else, all the "angels on pinheads" discussions, derive from that basic foundation. Now they have become so rooted in human culture we tend to think these ideas are more than they really are.
Apologetics is essentially an attempt to make the fear of death sound lofty and intelligent.

No offense, but that logic is also kindergarten level.
If he writes 3 concise books on it, at least give him credit for being on a 10th grade level.

And religion, the existence (or not) of God is the domain of philosophers, theologians, and those trained in religious studies, not scientists.
Really, I'd Sam Harris is one of the greatest living philosophers. He's incredible at it. He's debatably the greatest living philosopher, which has made him many enemies.
You're talking shite.

To be honest, I don't know much about his science. I found out about Sam Harris as a philosopher, and I think most people did. I guarantee most people see him as a philosopher first and a neuroscientist second, which is probably one hell of a compliment towards him.

I really think it's thoroughly possible that Hillary ran the single worst campaign in world history. Pretty much any way you can frick it up, she did.
It was a horrible, horrible campaign, but throughout all popular elections in all of human history, I'd bet there is at least one worse.

Please name it. Her only interview with a journalist 2 months before the election came from Anderson Cooper when she fainted on 9/11 because she had no other choice. From there she was only interviewed (and mean this literally) by 11 year olds and people who sang to her.
Meanwhile Trump did about 40 or more interviews with actual journalists and didn't bother with that petty bullshite that anyone with a brain knew was total twaddle.

Sam Harris is the most successful trust fund kid out there. He made plenty of sense until he started taking politics. None of his sanctimoniously smug one liners will make me quite believing in God, however.
