No... Good Christians just kill people because of their race, gender, orientation, etc. They don't put religion first.

Do you? 3000 people on 9/11 is a pretty big number.
Yes, the signature event from 20+ year ago...that led us to the vast over-reactions we are still reeling from.

I think you are sort of avoiding my question.

Why are so many Christian leaders kid diddlers and why are they frequently protected by other Christians?

I’d argue that same point is just as true for the radical Islamic terrorists.

Let me make it clear that I detest Islam, and if I could have my way I would deport every last one of them, and make Christianity the state mandated religion as it pertains privileged rights.

But the point remains, Islamic terrorism is fundamentally political in nature rather than religious. Pawns might volunteer for partially religious reasons, but that is not why the practice exists.

Should we pull scripture from both??? You'll look quite foolish if we do.

Depends. How many excuses are you going to make for the Old Testament?

There should be no harbor for Muslim terrorists and I think the Middle East speaks for itself in terms of societal impact.

But y’all are making America sound a hell of a lot like Iran in the late 1970s and i sure as hell don’t want fundamentalist Christians in complete control of the country.

OK. So what was the motivation of the Vegas shooter?

I don't know any more than what's been reported.

According to this story from the AP wire, he was apparently upset at how the casinos treated him.

Ever hear of Northern Ireland

What words of Jesus Christ and/or teachings of Christ were Catholics / Protestants /UK troops/police following when they killed each other during the Troubles?

Not one.

If I was to walk up and kill someone and say I did it because I’m following OWLFAN86, does that make it an OWLFAN86 terror attack?

The Quran literally instructs readers to commit murder on infidels as part of jihad. Not out of context - throughout the Quran and all over the multiple Hadiths.

Do you know where the IRA got a lot of its funding from?

And it doesn't matter what their politics were. They were practicing Catholics.

Religion and political system preferences are two completely different things.

A person can be both Christian and socialist at the same time.

I'm sure for some it does, in the sense that there may be ISIS or AQ leaders who aren't living piously and aren't willing to kill themselves for the cause. Baghdadi was a lifelong cleric from a family of them with a theology degree, but he was a rapist too, I guess.

But contrast with the UDA, where even the foot soldiers were likely overwhelmingly non-practicing protestants more concerned about loyalty to the crown and protecting their stronghold on unions, government jobs, etc. than any tenet of faith (or faith generally).

All of that stems from the time of Henry VIII. Start with him and move forward through time. There has been all kinds of violence perpetrated by both Protestants and Catholics against each other in the name of religion.

Are you familiar with the Gunpowder Plot? If it had been successful, that would have been a group of Catholics killing a bunch of Protestants over religion, intertwined with politics, of course.

Ummm, Islam has and is flourishing. Have you seen the data on how fast it is spreading all over the world?

They may live primitively, but that hasn't stopped them from flourishing.

Meh, I'm an atheist and it would not bother me to get rid of all the religions, but we'd find other reasons to kill each other.

We are just animals with a higher degree of self-control than most other species.

Religion overall is a positive for human kind and it's teachings do promote a moral code that is good for society

that said, two things can be true at the same time. Religion has been the cause for more wars over human history than any other political reason. that is just the truth. Evil people can radicalize anything the want and have chosen religion often

Smart people have used religion to manipulate stupid people for eons.

What normally motivates them is power, but they cloak their desire for power in religion, and the stupid people buy into it and support them.

That goes for all religions.

I'm not to the point of arguing for a Christian theocracy like some on here, but I'm a lot more amenable to that idea than I used to be.

I'd like to ask you exactly why that idea is so scary to you. What do you think would happen if the US actually did become a Christian theocracy that is much different than it is now?

Again, I'm not saying you're wrong about your opinion necessarily, I would just like to know your thoughts.
