If Trump gets duped by anything, I think it will be his own belief that world leaders want what's best for their country and people. He operates from a win/win playbook, which isn't bad- but doesn't take into true consideration that there are those who don't CARE about winning but desire only the other side LOSE.

Where do these rightwing isolationist come from? It's like they have never left the basement or gone beyond the county line. The US part of the world. Iran has for decades sought to undermine and attack the US. They have threatened to nuke/destroy Israel when they achieved the means. Our interest are aligned with Israel's when it comes to Iran.
This doesn't mean we have the same exact interest but we have enough alignment to side with them over being "neutral" and staying out of it. The simplistic ideas of the isolationist are like people who think they can ignore the fire spreading room to room in the house until the flames show up inside the room they are in.
In 2025 it's amazing we have people who think like this. They are the rights version of the leftwing out and proud communist.

No Trump got elected because progressive governance is a disaster. Most people who voted for him were voting against more of the Biden type of rule. Those who thought Trump would be some isolationist were deluding themselves and they don't make up enough of the vote over all to move the needle on any race anywhere it was competitive.
