Right, so they have now played their stupid games, the question is, what is going to be the prize?

Do y'all think a board like this will be around in 6 months?

They are going to stifle dissent. They can't have opposing views.

I'm not going through all that, but you talk about Twitter banning Trump.

How about Apple, Google, and Amazon banning/talking about banning Parler for "Inciting violence, when I can go to Twitter right now and find porn, terrorist accounts, pedophiles, murderers, drug dealers, cartel members, and endless amounts of inciting violence and strategizing insurrection.

Not a democrat but he’ll would have had to freeze over before I would vote for trump...that being said, I do not think his tweets today rise to the occasion of banning him.

People need to be responsible for their own actions. I don’t blame Kamala for the destruction during the BLM riots and I don’t blame Trump for the riots at the capital. What’s that saying that’s so popular around here? Stupid games win stupid prizes?

All of it. I am a Democrat, but so far from far left. I get very frustrated with the far left bc nobody can make something completely unpalatable to others like the far left. There’s as far out of touch as the far right in a lot of ways. I honestly think it was a little reckless today.

Lib here.

Not good. I don't like it one bit even if it is the legal right of corporations to do so. It's wild how Republicans and Democrats have seemingly switched stances on it.

I'm personally more of a fan of having thick skin and letting there be a marketplace of ideas. The world is a messy complicated place.

Yeah... yeah. This a normie level of toxic. There aren’t literal neo-nazis. At least not as far as I can see. That’s why Parler is in trouble. I joined Parler just to see what it was about and first thing I was struck by was the amount of data they collected. I just search for the n-word to see what came up and... I have screen shots of it if anybody doesn’t believe me. It was literal skinheads, neo-nazis, white nationalist, christian dominionists, neo-confederates. Parler was always going to get in trouble with apple and google as long as actual hate groups - not proud boys, not fascist-lite, but FASCISTS - were allowed a space. My user name was Alexandria Obama Soros I think... which, I guess they thought was not a troll name?? I live in Waco. Even the liberals in Waco are gun-toting Baptists. I remember one literal Nazi was complaining about his Baptist Church being too supportive of Israel, so he was looking for an anti-Jew Baptist Church. Can’t make this up. So, I mentioned that I got to a Baptist Church that is really focused on the plight of the Palestinians and protecting their rights as a people, but he probably wouldn’t like it bc we’re also super passionate about ending hate in all it’s forms... ya know, bc Jesus. Anyhow, I just remember that bc “dammit, ai gotta find some anti-Jew Baptists” is just so patently absurd to someone surrounded by Baptists.

Are you serious? I'm not linking porn(nice try), but there are plenty of individuals advertising and posing for their onlyfans on Twitter. It's not hard to find even by accident

The Western propaganda arm for Hamas.
CAIR

There are numerous ISIS recruiters on Twitter that go through DM's. You have Chinese spies actively posting ANti-American propaganda. You have

The Ayatollah himself has a Twitter account. He sponsors Hezbollah openly.

It's not. Maybe some, but I can post a text message from my BIL, who runs a Marxist FB group, saying he has no less than 20 friends with multiple fake accounts to make Parler look like a Nazi breeding ground.

He even shared one today. You're being misled a great deal.

I'll tell you what I told him earlier.

Not only this, but the left and the leadership of Twitter have praised the use of Twitter by revolutionaries and the ease that people are able to use it to stage.....

Wait for it....

And yet Vijaya Gadde, in charge of "Trust and Safety/Legal and Public Policy" said in 2019 they absolutely forbid their platform being used for such actions.

Lying bitch.

Some of you don't get it. You need to.

It's not personal. It's business.

Platforms like facebook, twitter, Google, and Apple have liability concerns. We just saw thousands of Qtards rush the US Capitol building and kill 4 people because they bought into a dozen conspiracy theories that have been circulating on social media platforms for months. How much time did people on THIS site waste with confirmation bias that was nothing but complete and utter bullshite at the end of the day? And those platforms made money on all of it. They learned really early on that engagement goes up when people are passionate about something. And what do people get REALLY passionate about? Unprovable dogmatic conspiracy theory bullshite. Business was great. Until the 6th happened.

On the 6th, dozens of police officers were injured. Some lost their lives. Some of the people in the crowd lost their lives. Senators and congress people and their staff were all terrorized.

Every single lawyer of every single person who worked in the Capitol is champing at the bit to get them some of that sweet megaplatform money.

Now, suppose you're Zuckerberg or Dorsey. What is your responsibility to your shareholders? Your responsibility is to make money for your shareholders. Hard to do it when you've got a dozen law firms burning hours around the clock to represent you in civil liability lawsuits. So guess who goes? The conspiracy theorists and kooks. Trump gotta go. Lin Wood gotta go. Sidney Powell gotta go. Others who are posting that they will be back on the 17th or the 20th with weapons? They gotta go.

Google and Apple have similar liability concerns. Parler is a poorly built piece of garbage that will likely have a lifespan of less than a year because they are just as exposed as those other two media platforms, they have absolutely no selling point if they do not cater to the far-right wing, and they are hilariously bare-bones and underfunded. Parler itself is built off of a Wordpress theme for crying out loud.

It's not a free speech issue. It's a liability issue. And it's going to bite liberals in the arse too. They've been able to get away with shite in the past because they don't really organize, but these platforms are not going to give a shite. Right now they have limited ability to root out bad actors. In time, the eye of Sauron will turn on everyone.

On the real, I worry about Trump not having Twitter just bc I think he’s so unstable and addicted to the rush of adulation... counting likes, retweets, etc.

I think they should have let him keep his account so we could continue to watch him slip further into delusion. I feel like things he already tweeted are also a matter of presidential record and we should be able to point to those things as examples in the future.

That being said, even if this were a first amendment thing, which it isn’t bc Twitter is a private corporation, the Supreme Court has actually ruled on exactly what he did TWICE and concluded it was NOT PROTECTED SPEECH. The whole “you can’t shout fire in a crowded theatre” thing.

From Wikipedia - "Shouting fire in a crowded theater" is a popular analogy for speech or actions made for the principal purpose of creating panic. The phrase is a paraphrasing of Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.'s opinion in the United States Supreme Court case Schenck v. United States in 1919, which held that the defendant's speech in opposition to the draft during World War I was not protected free speech under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. The case was later partially overturned by Brandenburg v. Ohio in 1969, which limited the scope of banned speech to that which would be directed to and likely to incite imminent lawless action (e.g. a riot).”

Likely to incite imminent lawless action... that’s literally the limit on the first amendment. So...

Ummm 2 were killed by the Capitol Police and the other was trampled by other agitators. just remember that.

Now, look at Insurrection USA. Their founder was arrested and is the guy that videotaped one of the girls getting shot. He is an avid leftist and advocated having his people meet by the Washington Monument to counter Trump supporters.

Now ask yourself. We saw ANTIFA bused in by the hundreds with police escort. Where were they? You think they just didn't show up or were too scared? No, they were in costume, but you can easily spot one by their actions and mannerisms. They can't help themselves.

You had me in mostly agreement until here.

Oh boo fricking hoo. Those corrupt tyrants deserved to have their assholes puckered for one day. They need to be reminded who they work for. Are you aware they awarded themselves each a 50K raise while giving American taxpayers 600 only?

Policing speech in the manner that Twitter is doing is something that no platform should do. It is predominantly one-sided and biased

He's likely not even hitting send on a third of his tweets yet you think he cans his likes and retweets. Once you have over 100K followers your notifications just get infinitely set at 99 because you can't go through them all.

You really need to read the 1st amendment. You barely even touched on free speech.

There are 4 other freedoms outlined in the 1st Amendment.

All of which have been under attack by liberals and their tech media giants.

Does anyone remember "Easter worshipers?"
