Here is the poll question:

Do unemployment benefits decrease the incentive to find a job?

a. Yes
b. No

If one answers "yes" then one must also concede that answering "no" would means NOT receiving unemployment benefits INCREASES the incentive to find a job. Since I believe that to be true, I will answer a. Yes.

For some yes, for some no. Depends on the individual.

The real issue here is not the existence of unemployment benefits but the length of time they are now being provided. As the further out you get with the extensions the percentage of those sucking off the system and not really desiring work increases significantly.

I am not aware of how unemployment benefits are paid. Is it the same amount for everyone or is it based on the level of pay at the time you lost your job?

Most states have a scale, based on avg income before becoming unemployed.

In Texas the max amount is $454/wk and the min is around $70/wk. This is gross amount before Fed taxes.

I'll bet starvation and homelessness increases the incentive to find a job for most. Sadly, not for all.

I'll go with A

No and as one who was unemployed for a long time, I busted it to get a job there years ago. NY economy tanked. Company had 7 people and ended up with 1.

i think for the vast majority of people, the answer is b. There are bad actors out there, but there are in anything and everything. You don't throw away the whole system because of them.

Yep, my wife's first cousin, fat bitch lives with my MiL with her two welfarkins and draws some fat checks. She is married but her and her deadbeat husband don't live together because I believe she gets more money because of this. She doesn't pay for anything, doesn't pay a dime in taxes, and got back 8K from the IRS. Except for being fat she is perfectly healthy but has it so good she doesn't even attempt to look for a job.

I live with a loser 33 year old girl who has a loser 35 year old boyfriend. The 35 year old was on unemployment until Pat Mcrory reduced it from $500 a week to $300 a week. He is a Clemson grad whoh collected this for months. Immediately after the decrease he found another shitty job doing sales just like the one he had before he got "fired". Just an example.

So (a).

I didn't see anyone advocating for the entire program to be extinguished. But the proposed extensions of UE benefits, a la QEternity, are just a bandaid to the bigger wound - Obamanomics is not conducive to sufficient job growth.

Had those benefits ended would you have starved or taken a job that may have not been your most desired? Or was there simply no jobs whatsoever in the NY area?

Well you know I think if you wanted to talk about greater oversight over people using these programs and making sure they are actively looking for work then i think you would eliminate a lot of these moochers that the right are so focused on. I would have no problem with something like that. But y'all don't propose that ever you just oppose the extension or propose cuts or things like that.
