Toys R Us wasnt allowed by amazon to develop its ecommerce. Meanwhile. Amazon threw them overboard when it got big enough in toys to do so.

I am not going to comment on whether this is wrong or right, but local businesses are getting hurt by some of their own issues regarding inventory and prices.
For example, I specialize in the audio and video field. When I need equipment or accessories, I will look locally, but in most cases local stores (even some of the national chains) don’t have it in stock and they will need to order it for a premium.
So I look online and find what I need and order it. Typically, I get the item in much faster than the local retailer told me it would take him to get it and at a lower price.

ToysRUs killed themselves taking on massive debt in a LBO. The government should not punish Amazon simply because their competitor did something stupid.

Amazon had devastated retail and is sucking the USPS dry.
Retail should adopt and if it fails it is not because of Amazon, it is because the American shopper prefers convenience. I have not been to a mall or large retail shopping center in years and I do not miss the hassle of it.
If Amazon solely sold its own products then I would agree more to your points. However, they resell from thousands of third-party sellers.

So tell us just how many stores in your definition of rural areas are there and how many have Amazon closed?? I see you keep moving the bar and now you are saying it is DG and Amazon.
I wouldn’t run around rural areas of Mississippi campaigning on the idea that you were going to “save” rural areas from the evil DG and Amazon. Life is easier in the Oyska and Magnolias of the world thanks to those two companies.
Anyone that thinks Amazon hurt rural Americans is simply wrong.
