He is not the money man, but he is calling the shots based on "the plan" & is high enough in the pecking order.
My belief is he doesn't want Michelle in that position due to "the dirt" you mentioned. Trump will definitely dig it up, if he hasn't already, use it, & embarrass them.

Ok, good point. It is possible he became powerful enough to tell whatever put him in his position “no” as far as forcing Big Mike to run goes. No one I talk to irl is able to come up with a better reason, so I’ll go with this.

More likely that they would attempt to get rid of him permanently. They have plenty of disposable people to try it.
