Sometimes that desire is entirely benign. Sometimes it is motivated by bigotry, but not racism. Sometimes, racism is the underlying factor.
The problem IMO is that the grievance industry would have us all believe that the motivations of Whites are overwhelmingly-racist, while the motivations of Blacks are entirely-benign. IMO, that is not accurate in either case.

Allow me to be serious for a moment…
People who are nationalistic and happen to be white exist by the tens of millions. They are the salt of the earth.
People who want a white ethnostate exist too…. By the hundreds at best in this country.
The left is actively lumping the former in with the latter, blurring lines to create fear and division. Drumming up tensions over a false threat. Just like they did with terms like racist, Nazi, fascist, climate deniers, conspiracy theorists, the unvaccinated, etc…. They do this while completely ignoring their own, much larger and more dangerous fringe.
Tubs clumsily tried to make this point, and unsurprisingly failed. He wasn’t wrong though. We need to stop letting fricking idiot shills like Kaitlyn Collins set the rules for the culture war.

Exactly like the Right is doing with terms like "groomer" or "Marxist." Like the Left, they are taking a TINY number of folks and trying to create the impression that they are both common and dangerous. For an example, you need look no further than the immediately-preceding poster, who engages in this behavior in half or more of his posts.
In both cases, they are not remotely common-enough to be any sort of existential threat.
Now, back to those Wizards ...

I mean the dudes who’ve shot up black churches, mosques, and synagogues were white nationalists and going farther back Andrew Brievek killed 77 people for white nationalism and Timothy McVeigh moved in white nationalist circles even if his bombing was more libertarian motivated
