If the Brits could get their navy back up to the relative standard they once had, they'd be the answer.

Who cares?

We should intervene only when our security is threatened AND our intervention has a reasonable chance of advancing a favorable outcome.

Love how easily this board changes it's mind. Now suddenly being the world's police os a good thing.

First, 'it' doesn't need an apostrophe when used in the possessive sense. It's OK to just type its.

Second, I'm not sure if you understand how message boards work, but it does not have a mind. This is a forum consisting of thousands of college educated adults, and you. Most of us have our own reactions to daily events, aside from a few shills who come here to post daily Leftist talking points.

Back to the topic, there have been world police since the beginning of recorded history. Most people consider it an unfortunate fact of reality that there are bad people all over the world. And most sane, self-preservationists prefer that the current holders of that role - The United States of America - should hold on to that role as long as possible.

We use our navy to protect sea lanes, but if boots are needed on the ground, let the chips fall where they will. No one needs to be world police. If another country wants to intervene, let them, it's not our problem.

If we don't want to declare war, but we want to do something, we should allow private citizens to volunteer and issue them letters of marque and reprisal. If they want to pay their own way and intervene, go ahead.
