I think if you’re scared about contracting the virus you should stay home or take other precautionary measures. It’s not my job to keep you healthy

Friend,

Plenty of surgeons, especially transplant surgeons, wear masks for more than twelve hours straight.

Tulane must need better transplant surgeons. Y'all slow. Healthcare workers on a bone marrow transplant unit don't even wear masks the whole time they are on duty (prior to this, obviously).

A relative works on orthopedic appliances. His employer was requiring it. As for me (teacher), I am wearing one 8 hours a day ( a little more actually). The district has been incredibly strict.

FWIW, I don’t mind them for short periods of time, but long periods of time absolutely suck.

So your willing to put a mask exposed to countless airborne germs and anything you’ve touched before you adjusted your mask without thoroughly washing your hands directly against your nose and mouth just to make others comfortable? Why don’t you just go lick desks in a kindergarten room? You’d be safer doing that.

My gym has been getting 1 star reviews on Yelp because the gym isn't enforcing social distancing or mask wearing. Do they honestly expect the gym to have workers just police the place and make sure people are social distancing and wearing their masks?

If you are that afraid of COVID to where you are getting on Yelp to 1 star your gym for not enforcing social distancing/mask wearing maybe you should not be going to a gym

Friend,

I assume you've never participated in lung or heart transplants?

I just don't buy the effectiveness. More than 3/4s are either not worn correctly or not an effective mask.
In my part of the world, covid should be running wild if the mask was the ultimate solution.

Masks are to remind people to be afraid.

I'm not afraid so I don't wear one.

Do yourselves a favor and get your O² level checked while wearing one. You'll see how much you truly are depriving yourselves of O².

You'll find that if you walked into a hospital with those O² levels, they'd give you oxygen.

Heart is about 4. Single lung around 4. Double lung - can get up there. Do they even do double lungs anymore? I have been out of it for some time.

If sounds like you have been behind the mask for hours at a pop. You are a better man than me. By the middle of the week, I have had enough. By the end of the week, wearing a mask for another 8 of 9 hours sucks arse.

Masks need to be voluntary. They don't bother me but I don't wear one all day every day. I am in and out of places so I just choose to wear one. Would wear one without a mandate.

Have a family condo in Panama City Beach. I'm here for 10 days. Its refreshing not wearing a mask after being mandated in Nevada.

Had multiple surgeries on both ears as a child, resulting in highly diminished hearing capabilities. I rely on reading lips to communicate. That’s the worst part for me. And of course, I always pick the line at the store with the crabass that refuses to take down their mask for 20 seconds and instead starts shouting as if that will help.

Luckily I live on the edge of the mask ordinance so I can drive 10 minutes away and no one is wearing masks indoors

I tend to agree with you especially considering the types of masks that people wear and the way they wear them. I researched masks and I found a pretty good washable mask with carbon something or other inserts and I have a few N95 (which I prefer). A nicely fitted N95 I believe gives some protection and offers a smaller viral load if I tend to walk through an area what an active person with covid has been. It's all I have unless I want to go live in a cave. But, I am older and have a couple of co-morbidities that are linked to more severe symptoms. I kind of want to hang around and see my granddaughter grow up.

After the election, the virtue signaling of masks will fade away and companies will be taking down their required to wear masks signs sooner than later after the election.

I like them because they turn women who are 5’s into 9’s as long as their mask is on
