properly funded and properly run public education, healthcare

No correlation exist between the amount of money spent and the quality of education. None, and you cannot show any data to suggest this is the case.

Again, you expect the saints in government to "run" healthcare. That in itself shows the delusion of your beliefs. Government cannot effectively or efficiently run anything and raising the amount of funding (or the amount of money government confiscates) does not change the outcome of the service.

Regardless of color, you should never pay people to breed and that's what our country as a whole has been doing for years.

I imagine if Texas ran Louisiana

If Texas ever does decide to go independent and pulls it off, Louisiana will be immediately annexed as a vassal state. Once we clean things up government wise we will merge you into us.

(We might let you keep the casinos. Might.)

It’s amazing how all of you think about money as just a thing to be spent - never thinking that perhaps you change the way it’s spent for better results. Agree that currently shows no signs of anyone having the ability to make that change but to wholesale deny that it’s a logical solution is obtuse.

Where’s the solution to not being ranked 50th? All I heard is it’s a culcha fault, it’s not a revenue problem it’s a spending problem, you will scare away the business even though you sit on the actual resources and infrastructure.

They will move the Mississippi River to Texas?

Because folks like you didn't have the common sense to use the search function to find that this has been beaten to death.

Bite the hand that feeds you... Make business less profitable, they do not come to LA.

LA is a shite hole. Poorly educated, shite infrastructure. Lovely crime rate. State income tax (which prospective out of state employees just love to pay).

Sadly, this is an effective way to keep the competitive edge with Texas.

Not to mention they sunset. So if you don't entice the business, you never get the tax revenue. If you do entice the business, you wait 8 years and get the tax revenue.

Go ahead and add in the other taxes the businesses/employees pay due to the new jobs. For most, this is not rocket science.

Together BR is a socialist group. 70805 was originally a white neighborhood made up of mainly blue collar workers. They were motivated to get good plant jobs and saved their money and moved to better pastures(Central,Livingston and Ascension).I taught school in the 70805 area and saw many kids with no reading comprehension, refused to learn multiplication tables, and could not do long division.Would refineries and chemical plants have a use for that type of student? It is a choice, choose wisely.

I look at a long history of this state giving up natural resources, sacrificing its environment, to be pillaged by extremely profitable businesses and you side with them.

The amount of damage the oil industry has done to the southern coast of this state and you just keep watching them take take take. What are you getting back? It’s a finite resource and you are happy with giving away all your leverage.

For most, holding your own and fighting for what’s yours isn’t rocket science.
