Aren't all of these Middle East actions just proxy wars on behalf of Israel?
Think what we could do with all the money we've sent Israel directly, indirectly and the wars we've fought on their behalf.

So yes you agree that the US aided groups allied with Pol Pot.
No - allied with the Khmer Rouge.
Once the 80’s hit…Pol Pot was largely a figurehead.
In reality the U.S. allied with the Khmer Rouge with the goal of splintering the USSR / China alignment. Hence Carter being “friendly” towards them.
Additionally, a significant portion of that money that you reference was spent on landlines that were largely placed near the border with Vietnam. They are still capable of detonating to this day.
Lastly…as I correctly noted: Politics can make for strange bedfellows. Hell, we worked WITH Ho Chi Minh in battling the Japanese in WWII. It is what it is.
No matter, I fail to see how you can be so certain that removing an evil demagogue will end poorly.
Venezuela and Iran both have brighter futures as of this moment imho. Could things RETURN to shite, sure. But as for now, I’m glass is half full.
