The race for Sahin may heat up after all
Posted on 8/14/12 at 4:03 pm to LSUSOBEAST1
So arsenal could have £42+mil to spend....

Moutinho or Sahin would fit in nicely. Maybe Eriksen? Llorente? Another attempt for M'Vila?

Eriksen? Llorente?
Yes please.

Why would RVP out mean Sahin in?
Posted on 8/14/12 at 4:14 pm to LSUSOBEAST1
Mostly a wage issue I hear, the office would feel more comfortable paying Sahin's wages with RVP's off the books.

Reports are coming out that the meeting between Liverpool and Barcelona have ended and Tello will not be joining Liverpool. frick

Could Arsenal afford Eriksen, Moutinho or Llorente? I know Arsenal has money but I think these three might be out of their range.

Yup.
Liverpool still have Walcott and Adam Johnson on their radar. They will try for one of those. I would imagine Johnson would be more probable because of his recent dispute with Mancini

Definitely could if they were to use the money from RVP and Song.

I know they have the money but these are the kind of big money, big wages signings that Arsenal tend to be priced out of. It goes against their long term financial ethos.

Yea I hear you. I don't know if the Emirates is almost paid off or what, but they seem serious this summer about signing some players. DB made a good point: maybe Wenger knows he only has a couple years left and he wants to go out with a bang.
Whatever the reason, they need to invest that RVP money into a star player. Losing a player of that stature without replacing him would be a mood kill for the fans. We'll see what happens.

Our wage bill is quite high actually. We have some stupid idea that players will be better teammates if they're paid equally. Our bench guys make a lot. offloading dead weight is more important than anything re: wages.
Llorente makes £40k a week right now. We could afford to give him a healthy raise with RvP, song, Beowulf, squillaci, etc off our payroll.

Actually, RvP's dumb arse post helped us probably. Fans aren't really outraged he's leaving. Mood is actually rather optimistic.
