you read about his interview today on Uruguayan radio? said he was flattered by Arsenal's interest, laughed when talking about friends asking him if he was going to Chelsea. said Liverpool know exactly what he wants, whatever that means.
McNulty from BBC says his agent expressed a desire for European football, which is certainly a change from his I need to get out of England talk earlier. probably just a negotiating ploy to get Real to pony up.
I absolutely don't think 'pool will sell him domestically, but we certainly *could* afford him. sure seems like he's Real's if they want him...if not, I'm guessing he stays at Liverpool.

balague says Everton lead the hunt to get Deulofeu on loan

McNulty is a horrific journalist
He will go to Madrid or stay at LFC imo. MAYBE Bayern if they have any interest at all, but I don't know why they would since they will have Lewandowski next season.
He's trying to engineer a move to Madrid. I hope Arsenal sign Benteke, Higuain stays at RM and then Suarez stays at LFC.
As for him being flattered about AFC and CFC's interests, it just sounds like media spin to me. They have an agenda going into the interview, and Suarez is atrocious with the press. This type of shite happens with literally every big transfer target, yet people still get caught up in it. Not 2 weeks ago Henrikh Mkhitaryan was doing the same shite with LFC. It means very little imo.

That rumor has died. Sammer has said the club are not looking to make anymore transfer moves this summer.

Yea I assumed as much. Bayern and Madrid are the only current destinations I see for him right now.
If he stays another season, and has good behavior, I would imagine he could choose where he wants to play.

Roma has put in a pretty significant bid for Strootman.

Is Pjanic on the way out?

Here are his quotes in context if you are interested:
quote:
Host: Do you know that there has been an offer from Arsenal?
Luis: Yeah surprising. I don't know who told me I think it was my wife that I am going to speak French with Cavani. She comes and tells me something different all the time!
Host: Is it more normal that someone wants you like Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain than a club from England after what you have lived through? Was it a surprise that another team from England wants you?
Luis: No.. well one has to value that despite everything that's happened one is still in the market.. that clubs still valuing players for what they can do on the field and that makes me think that one can come back and do things well over there. Like I've said they have given it to me in England but like we say I've given them stuff to eat because if I hadn't done anything then probably they wouldn't have been as bad but oh well football is like that and you have to be accustomed to all that and it's good that the English clubs still want me.
quote:
Host: Does it amuse you to see you in a photo with the likes of Madrid wanting you or something? What goes through your mind?
Luis: Yeah it does amuse you. Or when they say things it amuses you because they don't know anything. It does grab your attention. Or when I'm having a chat with my brother in law and he says 'I saw Chelsea want Luis Suarez' and I say 'Ah yeah I see you're eating up what the press say. I say to him they know more than we do and it's funny.

yeah I had seen them in more context than what the BBC was showing but couldn't find the link. that is more context than I had seen though.
I agree on McNulty, but mainly bc I think he's a Liverpool homer
we got into it briefly on Twitter a few years back but I can't remember what over. something arsenal and Liverpool related
I really don't think we're going to sign Benteke.

Apparently Chelsea just signed Mark Schwarzer.

No it's not.
It's a one year deal and they just gave Turnbull and Hillario the boot. They needed a number 2 GK.

hopefully they accept.
on an unrelated topic, why is no one going after christian eriksen? i know strootman is probably more physically capable and complete, but a lot of people coveted eriksen as much as isco.

I didn't know Schwarzer is 40 years old.
8th all time in EPL appearances.

That makes sense
I was confused because Hilario is still listed on the Chelsea website. Though, that still wouldn't have been crazy considering Schwarzer's Premier League experience and Hilario's relative lack

There are a couple underlying problems, or factors, which are preventing him from finding a destination.
First and foremost, he doesn't want to make a lateral move (and rightly so). That immediately eliminates a ton of potential clubs.
Second, he is a very specific type of player who fits into a very specific system. So, once again, that narrows his prospects.
Combine those two with a lack of demand for a player of his nature, and it's easy to see why he's still available at a very good price. Bayern just bought Gotze, Manchester United recently bought Kagawer, Madrid have Ozil, Modric and Isco, Arsenal recently bought Cazorla, Chelsea have Mata, Oscar and Hazard, Barca have Messi, Cesc and Neymar, Tottenham just bought Holtby, Dempsey and Sigurdsson, Dormund just bought Mkhitaryan, etc.
Nearly all of his possible destinations are stacked at his position. Roma and Liverpool are still possibilities, but I don't think LFC have a big interest in him after signing Coutinho on an absolute bargain. wm72 can contribute more on the Roma possibility.
He's a very good player, and has a bright future, but the market is rough for him at this point. If he would have left last summer he probably could have cherry-picked his future club.

After Watzke blew off Eriksen, I figured that he may be staying at Ajax
Posted on 7/9/13 at 4:38 pm to hendersonshands
He will be an absolute bargain if anyone ends up getting him this summer.
Sucks because it's pretty much time for him to move. I doubt staying at Ajax for another year will contribute significantly to his development. He's head and shoulders above that league already.

just fyi, if rumors are to be believed, we might be trying to get another CAM. it's tough because while Jack certainly seems to have the skills to play the no. 10, he hasn't been particularly good in that position at creating chances. while i love rosicky, and we went on our late run with him playing the no. 10, we could certainly improve there. i would be kind of surprised if Wenger moved Santi back to CAM after our late run of success with him nominally on the left, but then again, it wasn't like we were scoring much even then. a lot of that will depend on who we sign.
haven't heard anything linking us to Eriksen since the 2010 WC and the 2012 Euros though.
