Argentina really really needs a "Riquelme." Riquelme made that team complete. Messi would be at his best with Argentina if he was a 2nd or 3rd option. This team just can't seem to gel for shite and Messi ends up trying to do to much, and he's still lost out at sea somewhat. I'm not trying to knock him at all, I think he is the best "club" player in the world, but no matter how many ways you want to cut it, the NT does matter.

But there is still a TON of time left for Argentina and Messi to figure it all out.

They should put in Kun, nobody else is able to do shite with Messi. And Colombia is kicking their arse.

Going to be a great one, Mati Fernandez might be out though, but Valdivia will take his place. Game decision though.

Messi is not shite for the national team. He's played out of position as he's their best passer when they need to use him in his natural position.

As aforementioned, Messi is at his best when he can play out wide right and cut in centrally. With this Argentina setup he's forced to drop back too much or push forward too far like an awkward center mid.

He isn't Diego, I have no idea why they play him like he is. And the team is very selfish, completely unlike Barca. It must be frustrating for Messi to play in this manner.

I'm not saying he is shite for the NT, I'm just saying the poor coaching decisions can't take the "full" blame, at some point Messi deserves SOME criticism, but I agree it's hard as shite for him to do anything when he has to go to the center of the field to even receive the ball.

So why wasn't the uncalled (b/c of advantage) foul in the box a red card even after the advantage was played?
