Wtf was Silva doing moving Holgate to RB 30 minutes into the game? Did that make sense?

Trying to bring out his firing...
I guess he was trying to match up with the 4-3-3 from Liverpool and slow down their wingers.
5 goals total, 3 goals from that move makes it a failure.

Should we swoop in on Arteta?

I'm not against Arteta but a lot of supporters are
I think having someone who understands the club and giving him a lot of time to build is the right idea. You can't do this again in 12-18 months.
I think EFC is in a weird spot because they're backed by a community that thinks of it as a big club, but Liverpool isn't a major city and EFC isn't drawing major attention. Still a reasonably big name to pull talent, but I feel like there is a disconnect between Kenwright/supporters and the talents being pulled from all over to come to a fairly overlooked city in NW with a brand that isn't increasing and may be decreasing.
I think the culture has to be rebuilt from scratch. Either we need an authoritative "trust the process" manager (Saban-ish, to make a CFB comparison), or we need a relatable and credible manager who has the ability to make a young talent from Juventus care about the pride of playing for EFC. I'm not really sure we're positioned to find the former, or we'd be rolling the dice and hoping if so. Arteta is someone who may be able to do the latter.
I'm not sure Arteta is the solution, but it seems more likely that a guy with well over a decade in the UK and experience with EFC could accomplish the above more effectively than guys like Koeman or Silva, each who have what - 3 years experience in the UK and the Prem?

Duncan Ferguson interim manager. We are looking to hire a permanent replacement "as swiftly as possible".

imagine the melt when they take 2-3 weeks and still appoint moyes
Posted on 12/5/19 at 2:01 pm to Pettifogger
It'd be a lot funnier if there wasn't such a high chance of that happening

Bbc article pointed out that when Moyes was at Everton he had complete control over everything including transfer strategy. Might not work with Brands handling that.

Paul Joyce reporting that Pereira is out of the running. And it sounds like Unai Emery could be a candidate, which is interesting. I know he was targeted after Martinez. I think a lot of his troubles at Arsenal stemmed from a toxic culture, but we've got our own issues on that front.
There was an interesting article on the Athletic today about the changes Dunc made and had some insights into Silva's tenure. Supposedly the staff all spoke Portuguese in staff meetings to exclude Dunc from the conversations. Silva also apparently banned "raising your voice" in the locker room for whatever reason, so it's no surprise this team came out with more passion and energy when he was gone.
I'll try to remember to copy&paste some more tidbits from the article when I get home later for those that don't have a subscription.

I’ll check it out
Ancelotti is another big name that has been thrown out there.

Ancelotti was just officially fired from Napoli, so that is interesting. I assume Arsenal will be going after him as well.
