He has to go first. Croat keeper is too good. Need to set a tone against him.

when Portugal was eliminated against Spain and CR7 didn't get to take a PK, I thought it killed this thing

Hindsight is 20/20. If brazil saves one then having your best player go last to win it is awesome.

They lost in PKs, trying to argue the result would be different if you changed the order is pointless.

It's not about being "awesome,"
It's about guaranteeing your best guy takes a PK. Having him last doesn't do that.

The PK counts the same if it goes in the goal first or last. It’s dumb to save your PK taker until last.

You could make an argument about the pressure that goes with taking the last PK to win it. But overall I think that’s a big mistake by Tete

I mean, they lost by 2. I guess if Neymar kicked first maybe they wouldve only lost by 1 but I'd put money on perisic burying the last one anyway.

Early misses are huge, they put you under a tremendous amount of pressure. What a terrible take

It’s hard watching high level American sports then watching an international sport like soccer. American sports have a tremendous amount of money and time spent on research and development. In soccer you still have dumb old ideas in place (having your best PK guy go last is an example), things like that just don’t happen anywhere near as much in American sports.

Cool. Now show data to back up why the first guy for brazil is worse at pks than neymar?

I have no idea of the level in either. But there is a shite ton of money spent on analytics and research in soccer. Each team employs a team of people just to look at the analytics of each team and each game.

I’d argue it’s a little more white and black in American sports. Soccer is such a different game it doesn’t translate to its best to run this play in this situation. Or this team like to do Xyz.

However that doesn’t apply to penalties

I mean there doesn’t have to be data it’s a fact. It sets the tone for every other kick. Imagine if a college football team didn’t score with the ball in OT and the defense had to go out and make a stop.

It compounds the pressure on everyone on the field after you.

The best plan is to never need PKs in the first place.

117’ goal.

I mean you are the one saying it is a mistake to not have your best kicker go first. Seemed to work out fine for croatia twice in a row. Or is it only bad to have your best kicker not go first if you lose?

Morocco also didnt have ziyech or hakimi go first.

Thats why the entire premise of this thread is dumb. Its only a talking point if you lose. Its just something losers talk about to make themselves feel like they know more than the coach.

Its a shootout. One of the teams is gonna lose and it isnt because their coach fricked up

I said it was a terrible trade and we shouldn't have made a deal. I also don't have access to their reasoning for making the deal. It may help them accomplish some secret goals the public isnt aware of so the trade could be great for the CIA or whoever.

Whats good for the American public isnt always what our government is trying to accomplish.
