is there a more talented national squad than what the french can throw out there? it's very impressive. they have to be among the top 2 or 3 favorites heading into russia right?

Germany favorites. IMO only others that can come close are France (getting closer) followed by [big gap] Spain and Brazil. But we'll see if Chile, Belgium, and Argentina could make things interesting.

Perhaps, but I see a potential match-up between Germany and France being off the chain. Germany will undoubtedly be top notch from a tactical standpoint, but the level of young talent that France has the potential to throw out there is beyond fair. Germany's young talent is no joke either, so potential match this looks to be an absolute masterpiece.
