Hebert met with Louisiana Economic Development officials earlier this month, and is planning also to meet with Cortana’s owners, Moonbeam Equities, which has the 50-year-old mall property on the market for $4 million. He says both parties are intrigued by the idea, though it’s still in its infancy. “I am very serious about this,” he says. “I just feel the property is never going to be cheaper than it is now.” Hebert is basing his idea for the future of the Cortana site off of the experience of Houston, which in the late 2000s entered into a P3 between the city, county and the private sector to redevelop a large tract of industrial land in a rundown area east of the city’s downtown, now called EaDO, into the BBVA Compass Stadium.

Would support. Would love. But I'm moderately skeptical of anything on the Cortana site. My parents still live in that part of town and it ain't great.
Just curious what team this would be for. Seems odd to just go for generic stadium.

Yeah, I would definitely support it, but I’m not sure it would work long-term.
I live 10 minutes from there, and Cortana is a pretty rough area of town. Still, that area could use some redevelopment. The nice Oak Villa baseball complex is just down the road, and a soccer facility might work out, especially since it would be near BR’s biggest Hispanic neighborhoods.
We could use some more turf fields, futsal courts, and indoor courts with our weather here. That’s the one thing I hate about Burbank. It’s over when it rains.

Dont support it. Sounds like an awful idea and a waste of money.

not even a close comparison.
Dynamos stadium is walking distance from Astros Stadium, Rockets Stadium and Central Business district in a town of over 2 million. Cortana mall site is walking distance form getting shot in a town of 225,000

Horrible idea. Pure ghetto trash in that area of BR.
