he's fine. he just seems like another bob bradley/bruce arena, and honestly maybe that's the best we can do. i imagine we'd do alright under him. if the ultimate goal is to just make the world cup i'm sure he will succeed, but the advancement of play will remain static. the status quo would be preserved.
ultimately i'm just wanting a hire that elicits a reaction of more than "meh," but maybe that's asking too much considering the current state of affairs.

another bob bradley/bruce arena,
I'd say he's way ahead of both of them in terms of incorporating youth into a previously laid out "system". he also relates to Hispanic youth better, whatever that's worth. I'd be happy with letting him take a swing in the dark and see what happens

Earnie made it pretty clear during that roundtable that Burkhalter is not a shoe-in for the job. He could end up being the guy, but it's not a "foregone conclusion". That's just people trying to connect random dots. Earnie did stress that Burkhalter's brother would have nothing to do with the search or decision making. Earnie is also only one of 3 people responsible for recommending a manager to the board.
This Burkhalter?

Not surprising. Former head of Coaching Education (and now in another executive role within US Soccer) has garnered a lot of respect.
Met him and saw him run a session, it was interesting but damn I can’t remember his name. Seemed like a good enough guy though.
Just looked it up. This guy: LINK
My guess is he has major influence.
