About right, though it's hard to compare because English teams generally have bigger squads and more depth

Depends on if we're talking Minnesota United or FC Dallas.

Atl would win champions league .
Minnesota is league 2.

It's almost impossible to compare the leagues, since the structures are so different.
This current Galaxy team is a far cry from the 2011-12 Galaxy that won back-to-back titles with prime Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane, complemented by David Beckham, Omar Gonzales, and pre-injury Mike Magee. That team was the best team ever in MLS, and they could have probably done a respectable job in any league in the world.
But the weaker teams are probably around the lower Championship to League One level. Minnesota United might even be worse than that.
The Australian A-League is probably the best comparison to MLS, since the structure is similar.

The Galaxy are in what you would call a transitional period.

LA Galaxy pales in comparison to what they were just last year. Transition period, indeed.

I think most followers of MLS would agree FC Dallas are the best MLS team right now. Their depth is so good, they basically got a draw on the road in Kansas City last night with a B team of U20 players. They produce homegrown players out of their academy better than anyone in the league.
They have probably the best shot to win the CONCACAF Champions League any MLS team has ever had.

Absolutely. Everything you just said.

Structure, sure, but not quality. A-League definitely has worse soccer.

I think that's accurate. I would say solidly League One. The quality of play in MLS has steadily improved over the years. When it started I would have said League Two, maybe lower table League One.

it doesn't make the league look great when wright-Phillips dominates the league. But the league has some high quality players. The range of skill is probably one of the highest in the world.

The MLS has closed the gap but not drastically IMHO. I would say a solid League 1 level for an FC Dallas. I think that LA team mentioned may have been a low to mid level Championship League squad...but not close to an EPL squad. The squad depth at the EPL level, not to mention the abilities of the managers in it, still leaves quite a large gap with the MLS. I feel Minnesota might be competitive at the League 2 level. Just my .02.

Liam ridgewell thinks mls is championship caliber. That's someone who has played in both.

What?! FCD is far better than League 1 squad. I'm saying this as a Houston fan.
I'd bet the top teams in the league wouldn't get relegated if it had to play in Championship.

He currently plays in the MLS at an advanced age. In short, his opinion has more weight than mine, but that he is old but still competing in the MLS (he obviously wasn't good enough to remain in the championship). Also, people act like championship level soccer is a big drop from the EPL. The reality is, the bottom 10 in the EPL is virtually the same level as the championship in the opinion of most involved in the sport in England. The championship is widely referred to as the toughest league in the world to win as there isnt much difference between the champions and those that weren't relegated. The bottom of the championship is the same level as top 5 or 6 in League 1 as that is where you generally see the difference. Again, just my opinion.

He went on loan to championship last season. He can still play in it.
