Everyone can get behind cheering against the French, but at the same time it’s really easy to get behind Messi. My girlfriend and I were nervous as frick watching that game… I’ve never felt so invested in something I really don’t have business feeling that way over. She looked the same, at one point she couldn’t watch - and she’s Iranian.
It took over my body. For just that bit of time in ET and penalties, we somehow felt Argentinian.
