The definition is "a violent foul" under the laws of the game. Not dangerous, violence is the key term. The ref viewed that the challenge was dangerous and reckless, but not "violent".

And it's not the number of fouls. The Dutch ARE fouling more so the ref is obviously calling more fouls on the Dutch. but he's made some big calls going against the Dutch now. I mean, awarding that last free kick was VERY generous.

My contention is that Spain cannot complain about the ref given the number of close calls to go their way. Hell, the ref gave a yellow 30 seconds after a play he didn't even see. And that wasn't even his worst yellow awarded.

thats a judgment call by the ref, say if this was a 3-0 with the 80min you might get that straight red

did you play soccer at any high level?

So the rules change based on the score of the game?

I bet you're one of those guys that things fouls should be called different in the last 2 minutes of a basketball game.

Yes, I did, and if anyone pulled that shite, they'd have been sent off. It was a violent play if that pleases Baloo. No where NEAR the ball and extremely dangerous.

no but common sense lets you know that officials make judgments on these kind of things and are evaluated on them.

then you know that way worse shite goes on that doesn't get people shown a straight red

It's not what pleases me, its what's in the rulebook. I thought it was a judgment call that could have gone either way, and the ref decided on the lesser penalty. You, obviosuly, believe there was no judgment. But you've already stated a cleat to the chest is by definition a red, a statement which is not true. It can be a red, depending on how the ref views the play.

Nothing that would get a card... Unless that bizarre spinning tackle thing had actually hit Robben.

Leave the Hollandtards alone. Don't you know Spain is getting all the calls in this game.

A fall could've been called on the arm being up and slowing him down, but not a card.
