Tell Me What The Identity Of The USMNT Is?

Klinsmann has been the manager of the USMNT for about six years, correct? What is the identity that he has established with the USMNT? Thus far, in two World Cup Qualifiers, the USMNT has fielded a 3-5-2 against Mexico and a 4-4-2 against Costa Rica.
I just watched the match. I really have no words. The US needs to identify its best players, identify what they are best at doing, place them in positions that provide them the best opportunities to succeed, and forge an identity and a style of play around that process.
To that end, some notes:
Again, Bradley is not a #10 attacking midfielder.
When you play Bradley and Jones in central midfield and task Bradley with an attacking role, you essentially are playing with no #6 defensive midfielder as Jones is too undisciplined to be that stopgap and Bradley is too far forward.
Besler is not a fullback.
Chandler is not a quality fullback and is not a winger.
When no one is able to drive the attack, Altidore is essentially denied his role as a striker as he is forced to move further back to assist the midfield.
More creativity, speed, and technical skill must be added to midfield.
The wings need to be more dynamic, layered, with the ability to overlap.
Until these basic issues are properly addressed, I don't see how the USMNT develops a formidable identity that allows it to take the next step in progress.

We have no identity. There's no fight in this team. We're not even good at set pieces anymore.

Our Identity is confusion and uncertainty.
Its exactly what Klinsman wants when he trots out formations we've never played in the first game of a Qualifier against our top competitor and rival.
Or when he puts players constantly out of position just to see what they can do.

This is what any rational coach would do. I don't think Jurgen knows how to do this OR how to identify our best player and their best roles. I think he thinks they will naturally bring about their best attributes as they figure out the tactics on the fly playing in a new formation.

"Getting players out of their comfort zone"
Even if it is to the detriment of the team and makes no logical sense otherwise
