Exactly much better to help pay off a year of a contract than paying 15+ million dollars.

Just hope DC uses the momentum and attention Rooney will bring to invest heavily and become a relevant team again. Their current youth team situation is a joke, and their front office is way understaffed.

They’ve alienated two of the 3 traditional supporters’ groups. I’m not even sure Audi Field will sell out the first game with Rooney if DC don’t get off their arse and market the team. I hope I’m wrong, and they become a consistent sellout team, but I’ll believe it when I see it. It’s gonna be tough to turn things around, when they’ve been in the doldrums for so long.

Probably the most talent rich area in the country and don't use it.

Its already sold out, and tickets for the second match are almost gone.

And my lord the ground looks great. The fans are right on top of you.

That’s good to hear. As much as I think DC United need to move on from Ben Olsen, giving him some time in Audi Field is the least he deserves for years of playing in crumbling RFK and assembling the team on a shoestring budget.

Hope the rumors of incoming new ownership are true. DC have so much potential not being realized. So do Philly, Houston, San Jose, and Chicago. I think the new USL team coming to Chicago could make the Fire even more irrelevant with their shitty stadium situation.

I just wish he ended his career at Man U. Damn it I’m sad now. My favorite player ever.

it's alright but I feel they could have done a better job. Especially what other new MLS stadiums look like. I realize space was an issue and that open end is completely ridiculous. I do like the steep stands though.

Aren't they having problems with where the broadcast cameras will be? Something to do with the sun.

Nah. Eating worse + bad hot weather? Bad combo. More likely to get into "frick it" mode.

Wasn't thinking about ATL. I was thinking more like Orlando, LA, Kansas City, Minneapolis, San Jose, etc.
